This is what I know: She married Tillmon Howard Monroe (son of Lea Anderson Monroe, grandson of Marcus Monroe) in Grainger County, March 1866. In her last years of life, she took the last name of Johnson (possibly her mother's maiden name?). In the 1870 census, taken in Grainger County, the first census I can find her, she lists her birth state as Missouri. All other census' list place of birth as TN, until the last one in 1920, where she lists Missouri again. She was born in 1852. She passed away in 1929 in Knoxville. I have found her name spelled Malderine, Malderene, Maldrene, May, Mattie, and Mal. I am at a stand-still in finding her parents or siblings (if any).
