Actually, it was formed in 1850, but there was no census taken for Union county. It wasn't until after the Civil war that marriage records got started. (I'm thinking that according to a gr-grandfather's childhood account of the battles going "up the valley & down the valley", it probably managed to burn the courthouse at least once.
