My mom used to say "I swan to goodness" all the time. I thought perhaps "swan" meant "swear unto" as in "I swear unto goodness your room is a mess." Never heard her say "Swanee," however. But I am so, so thrilled to hear about something similar. I wondered for years if I'd just imagined her saying that, not having heard anything like it ... until now. Jim
