    1. Hamic family
    2. Is anyone researching the Hamic family of Union and later Knox Co? I have just received the Nat'l Archives Union Army pension file on my g g grandfather William Hamic and his widow, Narcissa Fletcher Hamic. At the time of Wm's death they had a minor child, Abraham Hamic b July 17, 1883. In this file are a statement by a county clerk that he was shown a family Bible with a publication date of 1852, containing a record of this birth which he believed to be an original record and genuine. Also there is a statement by Rutha Fletcher, sister of Narcissa, that she was present at the birth and remembers seeing William Hamic record it in that Bible. Abe Hamic (1883-1956) was married to Leatha Beeler (1885-1956). If there are descendants of this couple out there I will gladly make you a copy of this file and also of a photo of Abe, Leatha and children that was taken about 1911. Interesting Union co footnote - some of the papers in the file are signed by a notary public named James W Taylor, in 1896. Is this Union County's famous J Will Taylor, or maybe his son?
