Barbara, Sorry for the confusion. Hugh Caldwell and Rutha Holstien Caldwell had a son named Hugh in VA. The Hugh born in VA married 1'st Nancy Farrier 2nd Lucreatia Gault Welch. This Hugh came to Knox Co( now Union Co.) from Botourte Co VA in about 1809. His son English was my GG Grandfather. He was a 1/2 brother to Rev Hugh. Rev Hugh's mother was Lucretia and English's mother was Nancy. English and Rev Hugh had the same father but different mothers. MF was Millard he was the Gov of Florida in later years. My grandfather Alonzo Willett Caldwell spoke of him and said he was a cousin.I have unverified info as to a total of 4 children of Rev Hugh. Syntha was a daughter to Rev Hugh . MF Caldwell was a son to Rev Hugh. There have been a lot of Hugh Caldwell's. Syntha married a 2nd time to a man named Hill. Rev Hugh is buried at Bethany Baptist Church, The land that Bethany is on was donated by a Bayless. It is near the head of Racoon Valley. Many of the original members of Bethany were Bayless people.
