HEY LONNIE! A lot of Seymour/Seymore information at this site: http://www.ourfamilies.net/seymour/names1.htm#SEYMOUR Also, I have the information on James. Our dates don't match, but spouse does. James Seymour, born 1787 in VA, died July 13, 1860 married Margaret Hamilton, born 1800 in Rutledge, Grainger Co., TN children: Coleman Seymour Louisy Seymour Rachel M. Seymour Anna or Ama Seymour Suzanna Seymour James H. Seymour George Seymour Robert W. A. Seymour * NOTE: in this book, under comments - "Two different lists of children have been obtained for this family. The book was basically complete when the second list arrived. Other children listed are: James M. Seymour, born 1888, Henry Seymour, born 1825, Jane Seymour, born 1827, and Margaret Seymour, born 1928?" (Wonder if this is a misprint?) As you can tell, there is a big difference in dates! Let me know if I can help further. I have parents of James Seymour. Carol
Does anyone know of the SEYMOREs. I think this Fannie HURST is daughter of Hiram HURST. There were other SEYMOREs in the HURST family. On the 1860 Union County, TN census there is a Joseph Roberts and wife Margaret listed. If anyone has the 1870 Union census could you please check and see if they are still there and/or if they married there? This is my husband's line of Roberts. This is what I have: Joseph "Joe" Roberts born 1835-1840 TN married Margaret. Had at least one son named William Russell Cordell born 10/1860 in TN. This William Cordell later lived in Owsley County, Ky. William is not listed with the above family in 1860 as he was not born yet thus I need to know the 1870 entry for this family. Any help would be appreciated. Robie

I thought I would pass this along. The tales of this virus are making their rounds and I thought I'd put in my 10 cents worth. There is a virus that is attaching itself to e-mails without the sender knowing it. It works through an ISP's x-mailer system like AOL Moxilla. To make a long story short the person who sends it to you has no idea that he sent it. This is a problem because you may get it as an attachment from someone you know. Watch for any e-mail with an attached file labeled happy99.exe. When you download the file and run it you will see a fireworks display. This not a true virus it is a worm program so most antivirus software will not detect it without being updated. If you would care to read more about the virus go to your antivirus homepage and check their updates. Or check Symantec's virus page at: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/happy99.worm.html or http://beta.nai.com/public/datafiles/valerts/vinfo/w32ska.htm azel@sprint.ca suggested that I send this information through the list. I usually don't spread rumors and such about virus sightings. But two things changed my mind on this one. First it is for real, several of the antivirus pages are reporting on it. I have had friends tell me that they have received the attachment. And second is the nature in which it is spread. The person who sends you an e-mail has no idea that there is an attachment. So you may see an attachment in an e-mail from someone you trust and open it. But on the other hand it really doesn't seem to be a violent virus. It's general purpose seems to be just to spread. And it seems to be an easy one to get rid of. Most antivirus sites give a list of files to delete to get rid of it even after your system is infected. So the bottom line is, don't download anything from anyone titled happy99.exe. Just delete it and inform the sender that it was attached to their mail so that they may take steps to rid themselves of it. KEEP IN MIND Simply receiving the file will not cause the virus. Reading the e-mail will not cause the virus to infect your computer. The only way to get the virus on your system is to download happy99.exe and run it as a program. The one exception to this is some versions of Eudora mail that has auto file run. Chip Union County TnGenWeb
In an email I received from another researcher regarding James NORTON who married Mary Ann MORTON, he said the following: "I believe it was James Norton who adopted one or more of 3 Hutcheson orphan females who were in Anderson County in 1823. Those females were the children of John B. Hutcheson of Mecklenburg County, NC. I do not know the details of exactly how they became orphans, but, apparently John B. Hutcheson was in Anderson County and something happened to him, which was referred to in his brothers will. One of those females, Martha, subsequently married a Washam. I do not know what happened to the others. There is NO RECORD that I can find of John B. Hutcheson's presence in Anderson County other than the children showing up there and the reference to John B. Hutcheson by his brother, James M. Hutcheson in his will written in about 1834." Does anyone have any information about this? I would very much like to connect to the NORTON line and this information might give me another source to check. Thanks so very much, Nina MORTON T.
I am looking for information on a Katie Savage. The only information I have is that she married James Johnson and their daughter Emaline 'Millie' Johnson married Henry Coleman Walton 1847 Anderson Co. Does anyone have any information on Katie or Savages in this area around this time frame? Thanks, Angela

Hi, Sorry I can't hlp on your Savage line, but maybe you could help me with a problem of almost 25 years. Itake it from you letter, you have donw a lot on the Hill family. Well, I have only one, and can't find her parents. It's very maddening. Would you check your files to see if you have a Phoebe (Fereby, Ferbie, etc. spellings) She was born 17 Jun 1816 in Grainger Co., Married Robert (Robin) Adkins 1 Feb. 1838, and died there 18 Jan 1897.. They had 11 children and both she and Robert are buried in the Adkins Cemetery on the boundary of Graniger and Union Co. Thanks for any help you might pass on. Good Hunting. Dear Cheryl, I've been away for a little while, in catching up on my email, I noticed your post. I have a mystery Savage and I am curious to know who he is. My Hill line has a small family cemetery in Campbell Co. In this cemetery there is a Paris Savage laid to rest there. (I have to dig in my paperbound desk to give you the dates.) You wouldn't happen to have info on any Paris that has showed up in your research would you? I haven't been able to find out his connection with our Hill line or how he came to be buried in our cemetery. Oh by the way "YES! I would be most appreciative if you would check your census book for a few of my family's names if you wouldn't mind. I would like to get in touch with you later with a couple of names. My gg-grandfather is supposed to have had a twin brother who was sent to live with relatives for awhile after his father was killed. His mother tried to locate him later to reunite the boys but was unsuccessful for some reason. Family lore says he went to live with a Weaver family, but we aren't really sure of that. If I remember right it all took place very close around 1850 but I will double check dates before I have you check. Smiles to you, :) Wanda On Sat, 16 Jan 1999 10:01:51 you wrote: Hello: First, I hope I'm sending this to the right list address... :-/ My name is Cheryl McGonegal and I'm researching the Savage family of Union County. The census info available on the net shows the following Savages in Union County between 1860 and 1880. 1860 - A. (Andrew Jackson?); Elisha; Jeremiah, Rhoddy H. (Rodney Hanna Savage); William 1870 - A.J. (Andrew Jackson?); Arvel; Elisha; Jemiah; John; Mardlous (Marcillis Moss?); R.H. (Rodney Hanna); William 1880 - Andrew (Andrew Jackson?); Daniel; Elisha; Jerry; John; Martha; Moss (Marcillis Moss); Pheby; Roda; Thomas; William I have been told that the book by Dr. Wilson shows that Jeremiah Savage, b. 1771 in Maryland, m. Margaret Hanna, b. 1773 in N.C. Their son, Rodney Hanna Savage, m. Margaret Hundley around 1829 and they had a daughter, Mary Polly Savage, b. 12/20/1831. Have ordered this book but haven't received it yet. A distant relative told me that Rodney & Margaret also had a son, Andrew Jackson Savage, b. 1829, but the Wilson book only mentions the one daughter. Andrew Jackson Savage is my gg-grandfather. His son, Marcillis Moss, my g-grandfather, and his son, Daniel, my grandfather. I got this info from a gedcom on the internet. The Sistler 1850 cross-index census of TN shows that Andrew Jackson Savage, age 20, was living with the Daniel Heath family in Campbell County in 1850. Am trying to find any info I can on any of these folks, especially how they are related to each other. Also, if this 1850 TN Census book will help anyone in their searches, let me know. It only covers surnames H-Z of folks who were living with TN families with different surnames than theirs in 1850, but it was on sale so I bought the one volume. Thanks. Cheryl

I'm sorry, I just caught this thread. But, I live and work near Nashville. I would be willing to stop by there and get a record or two. Jeff, You could write to Nashville, I think it is the Dept Vital Statistics and for ten dollars get his death certiface. You should be sure to include for geneology research and if you are lucky get his parents name where he was born and where he is buried. Betty Webb
