He was born in 1835, and I know he was in Union co, TN abt 1860. After that, I'm not sure when he moved. He isn't there in 1870. Union co marriage records don't start until 1864, so he may have married before that--but I'm not sure if he md there or in KY. Supposedly he died in Barbourville, but I haven't ever found a date. Karen
What time period are you talking about here for Barbourville, KY? I have some info, as my father was from there.
I'm looking for a marriage date for Elige (Elijah) Atkins/Adkins & Mrs. Kyle Kelly (what is her maiden name??). Elige was first md to Betsey Mullens. I don't know whether they moved to Barboursville, KY before or after getting md. Karen
I was wanting to know if anyone had the following CD's and wouldn't mind looking up something for me. I need look up on Family Archive#146 which is military records, and family archive #317 which is 1850 Tennessee census. Thanks in advance. IMsMickey@aol.com

Remember also when planning out-of-town research to the East Tennessee History Center (or any other research facility) to contact the facility in advance of your visit to determine if normal operating hours will be in effect during the time of your visit. This will also allow you to determine if special advance reservations must be made to view specific manuscripts, collections, etc. Enjoy your research. We look forward to your visit to the East Tennessee History Center in the future. Sincerely, Shane Rhyne, Public Relations Director East Tennessee Historical Society P.O. Yes there is a Historical Society in Union County. To find out more go to the webpage we created for them at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnunion/historical/society.htm The e-mail link on the page comes back to us so don't think you'll talk to them by clicking on it. Although I understand that they do have an e-mail address but do not give it out as yet. That's one of the things I hope to discuss with them. Good luck, Chip Union County TnGenWeb
Is there one now? What's the address and how much to join? Karen
If you can't do it no one can. I joined because of your belief in them, just one thing. I would like to purchase some books, but I need to know what they are about not just the names? Thank to all. Hope it is positive Ann
Will someone on the list please give me the info for joining the Hist. Soc.--That's if they are nice to Chip <G>. Hope they want an alliance with the list, that would be a nice arrangement for all concerned. Keep up the good work, Chip! Jess
Good luck, Chip. We joined and mentioned you and the website and received some good info, too. Hope a working relationship conducive to both groups will result from the meeting. Teri & Russ Oaks
Chip, joining research forces would be wonderful for all involve. This site is great already. sandy
Me, too Chip! This is the best site in TN. Maybe anywhere. I'm a subscriber to their quarterly publication. It would be wonderful if they would let us use some of that material. Barb in Anthony, KS
Chip, You are absolutely "THE BEST" when it comes to Website Admistrators! Good luck, Chip. You are the greatest and we're all behind you 200%. As I've always said, on a scale of 1-10, this site is a 12. Nina
I have been contacted by the Union County Historical Society. I have no idea what they want but they have asked to meet with me. I suggested Sunday after next so we'll see what happens. The only part that bothers me is that I was told they had some suggestions about our webpage. I stay optimistic that they may want to contribute but I am still cautious. Wish me luck at bringing them onboard with their resources. I want to say a special thanks to all of you who contacted them on my behalf. And also to those of you who joined and mentioned our site. The number of queries in their publication with familiar e-mail addresses next to them bears testimony to the fact that we have helped them. Once again you know who you are...Thanks... and wish me luck when I meet with them. Chip Union County TnGenWeb

In a message dated 3/17/99 2:52:41 AM EST, Chip shared: << X-Message: #2 Date: Tue, 16 Mar 1999 11:06:34 EST .... Subject: Unusual Query (Cook, Martin, Miller) I just finished reading the Union News Leader (a local newspaper). In the back was a small ad. It read: ---------------- Looking For Descendants ----- I would like to correspond with any descendants of Albert and Sarah Cook or Martin and Sarah Miller. Contact Abba Oyler, 1211 E 6, Cozad Ne. 69130. ----------------- I don't know if any of that means anything to any of you but I thought I'd just pass it along.>> FYI -- Albert M. Cook (b. 1850) was the son of Pleasant and Casander Jane LAY COOK; his wife Sarah (b. 1856) was the dau of John A. and Emily Ann BUCKNER SMITH. Maybe this i.d. will help others decide if they want to contact Abba Oyler also. GOOD LUCK to all..... Margie in FL
