    1. Microsoft Works Problem
    2. Any of you use Microsoft Works? This has nothing to do with the list but here goes: Why does my Microsoft Works load part of a .WDB file when I launch it? Instead of going to the screen with the four buttons that includes the templates and stuff, it starts hitting my 3.5 floppy. Also the screen loads a database looking thing. I can click through a couple of errors about not being able to load the workspace and everything works fine. The problem is minor but very annoying. The file it is looking for on the floppy drive is a file created by me and saved to a floppy. If I put that floppy in the drive it will load that file and everything will work fine with no errors. Of course I have to close that file before I can move on to something new. My question is: What is causing Works to hold this file in memory and search it out everytime I launch it? I am sure it was some sort of option I mistakenly clicked when I saved this WDB file. This has been going on for some time. I have used their Knowledge Base and Faqs and only accomplished getting my blood pressure up. Their support line says this problem is not happening to me. Ugggh! Microsoft! 1. Union County Historical
    2. I met with the Historical Society today. It seems all went very well, and I am hopeful for their support. I have the promise of their president that they will begin to submit articles as well as will transcripts and other family history material to be stored on our web page. Now keep in mind that I have not received this material yet, but I am very hopeful. I also hope to be able to post the index from each Pathway Journal each quarter. That way all of you will be better able to decide if joining their organization would be worth your $17. Also, and maybe the best news in the short term, the Historical Society has an e-mail address. Feel free to contact them directly for information on their archives and museum. While they do not offer lookups, they can and will answer your questions about books and materials they own they just don't have enough people to answer specific questions about individuals. By materials I mean hand written materials not included in their many books. Drop them an e-mail if you have questions about their available books or other topics. If you get a chance drop them a line and thank them for their offer of support to our page. Their e-mail address is: tharpeg@icx.net And again thanks to all of you who took the time to write, call and otherwise harass the Society into offering their support. I am grateful. 2. I am looking for information on the Davis family who lived in the Blackfox area, in Thomas Hollow. They are kin to the Thomases who live there also. I have traced back about three generations but have no documentation of mny own past the 1850s. I think they might have come from Cocke Co. in the 1830s into then Grainger Co., but cannot prove it is the same family. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it.
