My LETT family is of Anderson & Union Counties, but learned the part of Union where they lived was once a part of Grainger Co. I'd appreciate knowing if you have any Lett family information. Here is a little information that I have found on the Peter Franklin and Elizabeth (Russell) Stiner family. They had seven children. Their names are as follow: Frances Marion born 13 Nov 1859 and died 16 Mar 1935. He married Sarah Craig 18 Dec 1887. Sarah Jane born Mar 1868 and married Winfield Scott Green. Josephine born April 1865 and died 7 Jan 1930, she married Thomas Harvey 9 Sep 1883 in Union county, Tennessee. They had 8 children. William H. born 1869. Lycurgus Curtis born 1873 and married Lydia about 1893. They had 3 children. Charles McCuin born Aug 1877 and married Parley about 1897. They had 2 children. Peter Franklin born Jan 1883. Peter Franklin Stiner SR parents were Henry Stiner and Sarah Graves. Henry was born 1801 in North Carolina and died June 1872. Sarah was born 1799. They were married about 1812. Peter had two brothers, Eli born 1820 and Eliahim born 1821 in North Carolina. Hope this helps Wes Campbell or any one else searching this family. Dear Chip; This is not a query, but I have 16 pages of "Inventories of Estates & Wills" from Grainger Co., TN. from 1833 -- 1841. I am not quite clear of the boundaries in the area, but noted several familiar names listed that I believe are from Union Co. The guardian reports list the minor children along with the adoptive families, which I thought might be of assistance to some families. What do you think? Cindy Sue Donahue

Hi Jerry I don't know if this will help much, but I just finished working on a genealogy in Bedford Co, PA. One of the more common names for this area is ROSE. In the 1800, 1810 and 1820 census, there are two Allen Rose's listed, along with a Edward, Jn., Thos, Wm., and Lewis. I was doing research on Hollar and Zimmerman and both of these families had members who moved to TN.
