    3. If you like moonpies you should come to Louisiana for Mardi Gras. They are big throws from the floats along with lots of other things. Anyway Mardi Gras is a lot of fun. Angie

    2. Chip-the poll was great! I've been a lurker for a few months..soon after subscribing I realized I had been researching a mistaken identity in Union County. Meant to unsubscribe but have really enjoyed the list! Maybe someday my research will lead me back to Union Co. By the way, Moon Pies & RC colas are still big over here in West Tenn too! Nina Morton T. >> Nina, that's an old saying.........still used by many today here in Central Virginia. When I first heard it, I asked the lady "You'll what?" I didn't know it means "I'll swear." 2. No I am not familiar with the card game, but I am sure it was fun. The reason that store has so many memories for me is because my first stop there was after my fathers burial at Taylors Grove cemetery. With each visit to the cemetery we would stop there.Do you know any of the gentlemen that would sit on the store porch and whittle the time away and just chat with their neighbors?Things like that are lost in todays society.I will never forget the friendly people of union county and coles store. 2. Ann Poe
    3. Chip & all, Ghost stories abound in E. Tenn., I have a book somewhere but in Knoxville and it is true, some night there were lights that seem to dance over the stream down the hill. Go Northshore to what is now called Glenmary but was Duncan Road and it that Wrights Ferry? The private drive down Duncan Road with several houses only has this well known story, I cannot remember it exactly although I lived on Duncan Road. This was just accepted as part of the way it is (past tense for then).. I think it was something to do with the witch of Duncan Road or Wrights Ferry? I have seen the lights and everyone else has also, people think you are nuts when you admit it. I do not think anyone has explained this particular story. Chip perhaps you can find out or someone on here knows? Thanks, Ann

    3. Hi, Just took the poll, it was fun. I am from Knoxville and most of my long line of ancestors and immediate family had the brains to stay in the hills. I did answer your question about RC Cola, I have had RC, I do not like it (very sweet) my Mother thought anything stronger than an oatmeal cookie would kill her "little ones" so I waited and I do not Moon Pies either. My husband born in AL lived everywhere and would up in Knoxville at Central High and UT loves RC and he likes Moon Pies. He likes a lot of really unusual food, scrambled eggs with brains, white gravy, and all that stuff. Thanks for the Poll it was fun. Ann P.
