A vampire bat came flapping in from the night covered in fresh blood, and parked himself on the ceiling of the cave to get some sleep. Pretty soon all the other bats smelled the blood and started hassling him about where he got it. He told them to leave him alone and let him get some sleep. However, they persisted until he finally gave in. "Okay, follow me," he said as he flapped out of the cave with hundreds of bats behind him. Down through a valley they went, across a river and into a forest of trees. Finally he slowed and all the other bats excitedly milled around him. "Now, do you see that tree over there?" he asked. "YES, YES, YES!" all the other bats screamed in a frenzy. "Good," shouted the bat, "because I didn't!" Carol, I have a Susannah Gann whose sister Margarette Catherine Gann married Rufus LeRoy Been. He was the son of Hazzard Been and Martha Osborn. Hazzard and Martha came to Arkansas in the 1850's. I think I have a death date for Susannah in Rufus LeRoy's big Bible. I'll drag the thing out if you think it might help you. Joy in Arkansas
We just added some more information to the family section. And we've started uploading the marriage records. Only two years so far because I'm having to do these by hand from handwritten pages. Go to our mainpage: http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnunion/index2.htm And near the bottom of the page you'll find the link to marriages. Also, if you get a chance, stop by TnKin http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnkin We just uploaded a great article about early railroads in East Tennessee. Chip
Some member of the Coppock family ended up in Clay County, Indiana. I'm not related, just remember seeing the name in old records.

Thanks to one of our volunteers, we have added Big Barren Cemetery to our listings. You can find it at our Union County site: http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnunion Then click on cemeteries. Some of the formatting needs to be fixed but I wanted to get it up as quick as possible. It's a huge very old cemetery in the county. Actually the cemetery predates Union County. There are several names in it I've seen mentioned on the list. Stop by and see if any of your ancestors are buried there. Chip
I am searching for information on my gggrandmother, Susanah Bean who married Wyett T. Smith 15 Apr 1848 in Surry County, N.C. Their daughters, Margaret Ann and Lucy Eva Smith married brothers, Benjamin and Thomas Yadon in Lincoln County, KY in 1875 and 1874 respectively. I don't know if she was ever in Union County, TN but am hoping some of you that are researching the Bean family have Susanah in your database. Posted on: Union Co. Tn Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tn/Union/778 Surname: Loy ------------------------- Nancy is mentioned in Fisher's will. His daughters are listed by their married surnames. This is the same Fisher Loy. As for George Loy, there is no proof his wife's first name was Mary. The LDS baptism proxy by their daughter Margaret in 1842 says that Margaret's mother was Catherine Loy and grandmother was Mary Elizabeth Tillman. Had Catherine had a first name, I'm sure Margaret would have listed it, since she did her grandmother. I believe this "Mary" addition came from a Stoner's Church (in NC) record-- after George died, by the way-- that gives a George Loy attending with wife Maria (Mary). This George would have been a nephew to the George who married Catherine Tillman. Also, after more research (especially on the dates John Tillman married Eva Dryden) Catherine may not have been Tobias' sister, even though their children who intermarried have been said to have been first cousins. It is possible they could have been first cousins once removed, thus taking this down a generation either way and not quite second cousins.
Posted on: Union Co. Tn Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tn/Union/777 Surname: LOY, TILLMAN ------------------------- Were there more than one JOHN "FISHER" LOYs? I have JOHN "FISHER" LOY in my database as a son of GEORGE and MARY CATHERINE (TILLMAN) LOY...sister to my 4th generation grandfather, TOBIAS TILLMAN. GOERGE LOY's father is, indeed, MARTIN LOY...but I cannot find a NANCY LOY, daughter of JOHN "FISHER" LOY. It very well could be that NANCY has a different mother...or my data is just not up to date. I would appreciate any clarification on this matter.
