Tn Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tn/Union/793 Surname: Webb, Sora, Sorey ------------------------- I find them in the Union Co TN Marriage Book 10 July 1879. In the 1880 Union Co census, they are living next to a Ela Sory 64, born in NC and wife Mary E. 53, also born in NC.and Emily was born in NC, Powell in TN . There is another Sory family living in the same vicinity, also from NC, Ela B. 32, wife Dulia A. 40, and dau Nancy A. 7 yrs old. Also living with them are three children, all Hills and listed as stepchildren of Ela ; Aaron 14, Timothy 12 and Tobitha. I do not find them in the 1870 Union Co census . You might want to check Claiborne Co census for both the Sorey/Soara and Webb families. There are marriage records for a Mara Soar 29 Nov 1877 to a W. H. Raley; an Isaelle to Buddy Sweat on 18 June 1901; Elay B. 21 Sept 187l to Hannah J. Sheckles ( is this the same as Dulia A shown above?); A Elizabeth H. to J. C. Walton on 20 Dec 1874 and a Bulah Sorey to Ois Brantley on 17 Jan 1923. Do these names mean anything? There is

    3. You are a dream!! Thank you so much for your reply. Yes, I would very much like to have the cemetery records of Dyer Cemetery and anything else you want to send my way. I won't turn any offer down!! Do you want to send them through by email? If not I can send my mailing address. I will also contact Bob Dyer on his email address. Did I have some of those people's names and marriages correct? I hadn't pursued the family much because it seemed that there were so many Dyers that I wondered if I could get it all straight. That was all before the internet where now I can talk to relatives by email and get it clearer in my mind. Thanks so much and I will wait for your reply. So I guess we are relatives of some distance since Pleasant was my 4th gr. grandfather. Talk to you later. Helen Whannel

    3. I am interested in finding anyone related to the Isaac and Fanny Dyer family. They may have been the parents of Pleasant Dyer from whom I descend. I know there were and probably still are many Dyer families in Union County and surrounding counties. Pleasant was born10 Feb 1818 in Grainger Co. TN, m. 7 Apr 1839 to Margaret Lain/Lane. They moved to Douglas County, MO. Pleasant died 10 May 1862 and Margaret died 9 May 1895. They are buried in Dyer Cemetery which is a corner of their farm in Douglas County, MO. Pleasant's siblings(to my best knowledge) were Cynthia, who m. a William Wyrick; Elizabeth who m. Elijah Arnwine; Anna who married also a William Wyrick????; Nancy who m. John Arnwine; Catherine who m. Nathan G. McHurst; Tillman who m. Louisa Dale; Robert who m. Susanna Dale; Isaac who m. Margaret J.??? and George who m. Olley Williams. Nelson J. Dyer the son of Pleasant and Margaret Lain/Lain was b. 20 Feb 1840 at Flat Creek. He married Nancy A Mullin or Mullins or something like that on 12 Aug 1859 in Grainger County, TN. Nancy was born 2 Aug 1842 in Union Co. TN or Grainger Co. I know they were all one county at one time. She died young on 3 Feb 1865 and is buried in Dyer Cemetery on their farm in Douglas Co. MO. They had one daughter, Margaret Adeline, born 1861 in TN. Margaret Adeline(called Addie) was my gr. grandmother. I have an article from a Douglas County, MO newspaper in 1895 telling that Nelson J. Dyer came into the newspaper office to purchase a subscription to the paper to be sent to J. M. Lane of Flat Creek. I assume this was a member of the family related to his mother. Can anyone help me with any of these Dyer, Mullin/Mullins? and Lain/Lane families? I would be very happy to hear from someone and can supply information of the Dyer family after they moved away from TN and came to MO. Thanks so much. Helen Whannel from West Des Moines, Iowa

    3. So sorry to hear about your daughter. I have come through kidney cancer and a double mastectomy with God's help, so I know that He still heals and answers prayers. I would much rather it be me than one of my children! If you can just give us her first name, I will make sure it gets on the e-mail prayer list that my church has. If anybody objects to your prayer request on ANY list, give us their name and we will pray for them also!
