I enjoy this list. I like hearing strangers offer prayers for a daughter that they will never meet. I enjoy learning that someone was able to find a lost relative through the help of an unknown stranger. I enjoy seeing that someone lists all the burials in some obscure cemetery on the off chance that another will locate a key grave. I enjoy the warmth that seems to permeate the days listing and the willingness to help that is so evident. I enjoy the number of kind resposes to a man who had to lose his cat. I enjoy knowing that I am not alone in my quest for moon pies. This is a class list Chip, don't change one single thing. TOM
I agree with Chip and Peggy. I belong to five other county e-mail lists. Not only are there no jokes, or prayer requests on those lists, you don't learn much about genealogy either. We have it all right here. What we have here is almost an extended family. We not only learn a lot about our ancesters, we also laugh together and cry together. Isn't that the way a family is supposed to be ? I personally would hate to see it change one single bit. Brenda

Good for you Chip, I like the list just the way it is! Peggy

I'm working on something really neat for Union County. Thanks for stepping in Rae. It's good to have another listowner around. Okay, I didn't care for that opinion, they're welcome to it. My problem was the way it was worded. It was sort of....um...an attack. Patricia said the same thing but was nice about it. Personally I see nothing wrong with what Bill sent and by golly if he apologizes for it he'll hear it from me. Fact is I intend to pass it around the office. Fact is folks, a couple of weeks ago you were saying how quiet the list was. A joke every now and then doesn't hurt anything. If it's crude or offensive I'll deal with it. But if we don't have time for a joke or humorous story, we're really taking life too seriously. One day we may all lie in a hospital bed knowing we only have days to live. Knowing this may be the last night we spend with our families. Thinking back over all the times we dissappointed our parents and friends. Wishing we had done this or hadn't done that. When it comes my time, I figure I'll have a ton of stuff to wish I had done differently. Spending a moment reading a joke or funny story won't be one of them. If it startes becoming a joke list I'll step in. But in fact, there is more genealogy on this list than many others. We talk and discuss. Other lists stay quiet for days on end. Boring! Chip

Shoot, I don't care what side of the fence you lean towards, what's going on in Florida is sad. If we can't laugh about it, we're too serious in life. 90% of the year this list is about genealogy, sometimes that involves a break for a few moments for humor. I appreciate it. If it get's foul I will deal with it. As it says in our rules. If you're looking for a list that's strictly genealogy this isn't it. We have fun, but I bet we find more cousins than any other list. (I manage 6) If you'd like to read our rules again have a look at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnunion/tnunion.htm#rules Chip

Patricia If everyone starts sending messages about politics or humor then the intended purpose of the list will suffer and people will start unsubscribing. I have seen it happen on other lists. Have you asked Chip what he thinks? I thought it was very funny and I sent it to my list also. Rae At 08:23 PM 11/13/2000 -0500, you wrote: >Bill > >You are probably walking a thin line between genealogy and politics. >Lets all keep the list to the intended purpose.....GENEALOGY > >Carter > Rae

Carter, You are right. I would not want to get a lot of email with jokes. I love this site and would not want to be overwhelmed with stuff other than genealogy and prayer request. as well as Chip's stories. Thanks, Patricia
This is from my daughter Lisa that I requested prayer for. Rae >From: [email protected] > >>I have a doctors appointment on 11/21/00 at 2PM. I personally found the story funny even though I find nothing funny about what is happening in Fla. I think that is was OK t to send. Patricia

Folks, it's time to laugh. Enough!!!! Bill Hunter A lawyer in Washington received the following inquiry from a prospective client Friday: "I was wondering if you could represent me. I played the Powerball Lottery yesterday ($61 Million Jackpot). I didn't win. I think I entered the wrong numbers because the form was so confusing; too many numbers to pick and all. The numbers I meant to enter were the winning ones. I want to sue someone."
Kim, Would your Bridges descend from Reubin or Morris Bridges? Their father was William Bridges. Bobbie
Posted on: Union Co. Tn Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tn/Union/794 Surname: Janeway, Evans, Mo, Janeway, Evans, Mozingo, Janeway ------------------------- In the Union Co marriages, she is shown as Summerville Evans and her marriage to Luney Janeway was 25 Jan 1870. The Parley C. Muzingo -F. C. Cooper marriage was 4 Sept 1897 and the Parlee Muzingo - James Moody marriage was 23 May 1900. None of these names are my lines, however, I believe that Summerville was her name, not a nickname and she was an Evans ; In the 1870 Union Co census, she is listed in the home of Jessey Evans 66, Nancy 56, Rufus 29, Martha C. 3; Summer is shown as a Janeway,24 yrs old and there is also a Sariah Butcher 27 and dau Margaret ll living in the home; In the 1860 Union Co census, Jessee is shown as 65 yrs old, Nancy 49, Summerfield 18, George W. and William M. 15 twins and Rufus 10. In 1880, she is living with her mother, Nancy 75 and Summerfield is shown as 31, div., no children are listed. I don't find her in the 1900 Union Co census.
