He was a store owner and was always doing bizarre things to advertise. He buried a man alive in his parking lot once for publicity. One time he gave away chicken at his store. Here was the catch. He stood on the roof of his store and threw live chickens off. If you caught one you got to keep it. As you can imagine the Humane Society was none to pleased with this. Funny they didn't say anything when he buried the guy alive. Later he became the Mayor of Knoxville. During a City Commission meeting he got mad at one of the Commissioners and took him outside for the best two out of three rounds. But oddly enough for all of his lunacy he was a heck of a nice guy. I GRADUATED FROM HMHS WITH BOBBY. IS HE STILL AMONG US? BOB DYER

My daughter is manager of several senior citizen's rental buildings and they are always coming up with something interesting. She just sent this to me and I thought I'd pass it on. ONLY IN AMERICA 1. Can a pizza get tto your home faster than an ambulance 2. Are there handicapped parking spaces in front of a skating rink 3. Do drugstores make the sick walk all the way back to the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigaretts in front. 4. Do people order double cheese hamburgers, large fries and a diet coke 5. Do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage. 6. Do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place. 7. Do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight. 8. Do we use the word "politics" to describe the process so well: "Poli" in Latin means 'many' and "tics" mean bloodsucking insects. 9. Do they have drive -up ATM machines with Braille lettering. 10. Do banks leave their doors open and chain up their pens. Then for the more sobering story: Suppose one morning you don't wake up. Do all your family and friends know that you love them. I was thinking... I could die.... today, tomorrow or next week and I wondered if I had any wounds that needed to be healed, friendships that needed to be rekindled, or three words that needed to be said. Sometimes, " I love you " can heal and bless. Let everyone in your family and all of your friends know that you love them. Even if you think they don't love you back, you would be amazed at what those three little words and a smile can do. So just in case I die tomorrow........ I LOVE YOU. My mother used to say, "If we would all live each day as if it were our last, what a wonderful, peacful world this would be"
Menu: Main Course: Bogolony Sandwiches with mayo Beverage: RC Dessert: Moon Pies What more do you need??? Chip you still have to put Union County above and beyond your duties as President.
See, now this is how I get inspired. All this talk about baloney sandwiches prompted me to get to work on our recipe page. No, it doesn't have chocolate gravy yet, but it will, along with all the other recipes you all sent. I saved them all and tried most of them. Chip has my vote.
Chip, you are so hysterical. Thanks for running the BEST web site on the net. Nina

Chip has my vote!
I think I have a solution to the problem of candidates, Karen. Let's all nominate Chip for President. We'll have a big surge on RC Cola's, balogna sandwiches and all the GREAT food from TN. Of course, Chip would be the first Democrate I'd respect, but after all these years, I think I could really get into it. What do you say, Chip? Nina
As a non-partisan I was kinda wondering if maybe the democrats are paying back the republicans for the 8 years they spent dogging Bill Clinton and for spending 50 million chasing his sex life. What a library could have been built in the inner city !!!!! I too want this over. I will not respect Bush or Gore. I will wait out the 4 years and put a real president in office. This has really been a history lesson. My 6 year old grandson now knows what the electoral college is. Amazing. Have a great day Bette Sutton Rodey
I'd like to throw the whole thing out. Start over from scratch. Those who ran in this election can't run again in the second one. Maybe we could get someone in we could respect for their stand on things. I don't want to discuss issues here, have real problems with the Clinton Gore administration, and their integrity, and questioned whether I felt I could trust Bush as well. A couple of the guys that showed up on our ballot in Nebraska, I'd never heard of, and I read everything I could get my hands on in the paper, & magazines before the election. Karen

Wasn't President George Bush the first person to receive a certificate from the First Familles of Tennessee project?
Chip, You are one of a kind. There are not a lot of Union County Folks that will admit voting Demo right now. There used to be some folks named Corum that lived near Luttrell in an area called Webster Hollow. They had a small country store near there home. Mrs Corum made great baloney sanwiches there in the store. She sliced the baloney with a butcher knife and put mayo on with the same knife. She gave us RoC colas to drink. Her nephew and myself used to hunt Rabbitts and Grouse in Webster Hollow many years ago. Mark Caldwell
Here is my thinking. I'm for Gore. No that doesn't make me a Democrat. He used to stop in my dad's business when he was a Senator. If he gets elected I can tell everyone I know the President. Hey, I don't have much in life. Oh, and by the way, he shakes hands like a girly man. But honestly he is a heck of a nice guy. Don't know his wife, met her one time and she struck me as odd. Now Bologna sandwiches... In Union County we call them Baloney Samiches. There used to be this little market up above Maynardville. All the old folks hung out there and whittled. It was run by a gentleman named Bobby Beeler. Bobby was a fine man, who always gave kids a pack of gum or a sucker. But he used to make the best baloney sandwiches! Later in life Bobby's eyesight wasn't so good and when he sliced your baloney (did it with a knife) one end would be thin enough to read through and the other would be two inches think. You stop anywhere in Union County today and ask about a Bobby Beeler sandwiche everyone will know what you're talking about. Chip PS excuse my typing I should have been somewhere else ten minutes ago and am in a hurry.
