    3. From: <[email protected]> He also sold some sort of salve that was supposed to cure everything from Lumbago to the common cold. LOL And I bet he made millions off that stuff!!! For those interested, you can read a few tales about Cas in a column that Sam Venable wrote after Cas' death. Very interesting & describes him perfectly! http://www.knoxnews.com/news/venable/sv09291998.shtml LOL Bobbie

    3. Cas was a millionaire but continued to live in a very small house not too far from us in North Knoxville. My family knew one of the cameramen and he told us this story. They would tell Cas some terrible off-color joke right before he would go on the air. He didn't usually understand it and would get on the air and repeat it. I remember several times hearing the gasps as he would repeat the punch line. 3. I have a good one on Cass Walker. While on vacation, staying with an Aunt, Cass hired some of us young folks to fold fliers for his store. Our pay? A watermelon. Well, Cass always got a bang for his buck and we worked an awfully long time for that watermelon. When we finished he took us out to the new load of watermelon that had arrived that day. "Pick any one you want kids". The other children all picked out, and happily left with their prize. "And you girl?" What melon do you want. I walked up to the truck, peaked through the slats and picked out one on the very bottom of the load. "You said any one we wanted Mr. Walker and I want that one. You promised." He huffed and puffed and had the truck unloaded and never again invited me back to fold fliers. The watermelon? I made sure it was plugged before I left so I knew it was going to taste good. Bette

    3. From: <[email protected]> I remember him....50 yrs ago he had his own radio program. I used to listen to him. Anyone who lived within a signal of Knoxville, TN always heard old Cas! He also had a TV show, Milly. He came on every morning around 6 AM. I believe it was called The Farm & Home Hour. I grew up watching it while I waited for the school bus to run! LOL I remember seeing Dolly Partin on there when she was really young. That's where she got her start. Like Chip said, Cas was an odd one! LOL He had his own opinions & he made sure everyone heard them! He even published a paper. Wasn't it called The Watchdog???? Anyone remember the jingle that they played every morning??? Bobbie :o)

The "Baloney" Sandwiches were made with "Bulldog Baloney" per Bobbie. Cut as thick as you wanted. Great Cass Walker memories too. Cold Watermelon! Just don't taste the same here in Michigan.
