    3. Nina, I have a Hamilton line and they came from Augusta Co., VA - from the Great Cow Pasture to Madison Co., KY. Mine was William Hamilton who married Margaret [Walkup] Guy. Their daughter, Ellender who married James Moore (he lived in Augusta Co.) are my line. William had a son named Patrick. I'm not sure of any other children. Hope we can make a connection. Joyce

County wide we have one of the worst storage and archive systems I have ever seen. The one exception are the property transfers. Those are immaculate and in order. It's not so much that loan officers can't find things, as much as when they ask county employees, most have no idea how to do their jobs. There are people working on correcting this, so maybe it will get better. Records stored in two places? They're stored in several places within the same building. However I have no information about records stored outside the courthouse. I kind of doubt this because of state regulations. marriage and death records are stored in Nashville. Most counties keep duplicate marriage records, Union County does not. Chip Chip

    2. Chip, When I was paying property taxes in Union Co. back in 1995/96, I was told many Union Co. records were lost in a fire. Anyone know whether any pre 1900 records survived? Also heard that the present day records are stored in 2 different places; we discovered that even some of the loan officers don't always know where to look for specific deeds, etc.

    2. Are there any Hamilton researchers out there? I am searching for information on Nancy HAMILTON, wife of John WARWICK. They were married Abt. 1775 in Tygart's Valley, Augusta County, VA. John died in 1821 in Anderson County, TN. I have no info on Nancy's background or family. I show 6 children for this family: John, Delia, William (Wiley), Nancy Elizabeth, Willis and Mercy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Nina

    3. Posted on: Union Co. Tn Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tn/Union/840 Surname: Inklebarger ------------------------- In the 1900 Union Co census there is an Adolphus W. INKLEBARGER b. 4/1881 shown as son of Emiline (widowed). Others in the home are Alonzo D. b. 9/1876, Samuel b. l/1879, Lollie H b. 10/1882, William H. b. 5/1884, Bunia (f) b. 5/1885 and Sarah b. 9/1887 (gdau). I believe Emiline is the widow of Stephen INKLEBARGER and she had 10 children, 9 are living in the 1880 UC census. Besides the ones listed above, their other children were Leana E. b. abt 1872, Anna E. b abt 1883, Alonzo, Samuel, and an unnamed son b in Apr 1880. In the 1910 Union Co census, I find Adolphus (30) md for 6 yrs to Maud D. (21) with three living children, although only two are shown in the home: Sallie 2 yrs old and Gracie L. 2 months old. The 1920 Union Co census shows Adolphus W. 39, Maud 30, Bessie 14, Pearl 12, Grace 9 and Clyde 7. Is this the family you are looking for?

    1. Christmas Stories
    2. I just finished photographing the Union County Christmas Parade last Sunday. I'll get them online and share them. My wife works at a Bank and their float won first place. As is normal, my wife gave me the camera and told me to stand on the side of the road and take pictures of the "Pretty Ones." She got her pictures back today. She's not too happy with me...Being a red blooded American male, there are two float pictures and a bunch of the cheerleaders. I told her that her exact words were "Take pictures of the pretty ones." My wife needs a better sense of humor. To make up for it, she made me go to the Mall yesterday and have my picture made with Santa. 35 years old sitting on Santa's knee...You know who's in charge at my house. So, it's almost Christmas time again. I've got a couple of short stories to share with you. They'll be better than my Rudolph thing from last year. I was hoping maybe some of you had some good Christmas memories. Maybe a special dinner your Grandmother made, maybe a funny story from a family Christmas from years past. Maybe a special gift you received. And be sure if you have young ones, stop by: http://www.maynardville.com/santa And send an e-mail to Santa. he replies to each e-mail he receives. Chip

    2. Subject: Genealogy Smiles You know you're taking genealogy too seriously if... You are the only person to show up at the cemetery research party with a shovel. To put the "final touches" on your genealogical research, you've asked all of your closest relatives to provide DNA samples. Your house leans slightly toward the side where your genealogical records are stored. You decided to take a two-week break from genealogy, and the U.S. Postal Office immediately laid off 1,500 employees. Out of respect for your best friend's unquestioned reputation for honesty and integrity, you are willing to turn off that noisy surveillance camera while she reviews your 57 genealogical research notebooks in your home. The armed security guard, however, will remain. You plod merrily along "refining" your recently published family history, blissfully unaware that the number of errata pages now far exceeds the number of pages in your original publication. During an ice storm and power outage, you ignore the pleas of your shivering spouse and place your last quilt around that 1886 photograph of dear Uncle George. The most recent document in your "Missing Ancestors" file is a 36 page contract between you and Johnson Billboard Advertising Company. Ed McMahon, several t.v. cameras and an envelope from Publishers Clearing House arrive at your front door on Super Bowl Sunday, and the first thing you say is, "Are you related to the McMahons of Ohio?" "A Loving Family" and "Financial Security" have moved up to second and third, respectively, on your list of life's goals, but still lag far behind "Owning My Own Microfilm Reader." A magical genie appears and agrees to grant your any one wish, and you ask that the 1890 census be restored. ---------------------------------------------- RE: Genalogy smile/ for the family researcher's By Judy Holden - Jul 18, 2000
