    1. Re: [TNUNION] Francis Marion Hamilton Obit & Will
    2. While he was probably long gone in 1880, maybe some of his children were still living (check for possible children in a will/probate record). The 1880 census does list the birth place of each person's father & mother. That can be valuable for clues, although isn't always 100% accurate. While you're looking at wills/probate records, check the surname of people in other wills. I have been able to extend lines a generation or two using those records. Also, sometimes land records are useful for the same purpose, although neither record format is a "quickie" answer, as you have to look at all the known surnames to get the right clues. (One of the reasons I usually use the LDS Family History Centers for working wills & land records if visiting the actual counties are too far away to access easily.) Happy hunting. 2. Hi Jane, I understand that Stephanie Hill already contacted you.   I'm glad you were able to get your pictures included in the book. Stephanie has set March 30 as the cut-off date for accepting photos for the Arcadia Book project. Just a reminder, even though the Arcadia Book Project is coming to a close, we will always accept photos which can be included in our quarterly journal and newsletter. Thank you, Jane Wilson --- rpevans1@comcast.net wrote: > Do not let the history of your family, business, church, club, home, organization or event be left out! The Pellissippi Genealogical and Historical Society (PGHS) is helping to compile a book of pre-1970 historical photographs of Anderson County to be published as part of Arcadia Publishing‘s Images of America series.   The Pellissippi Genealogical and Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1980 to help preserve the history and genealogies of our communities.   All profits from its sale of the book will be used by PGHS to further its efforts in historical preservation.   If you want to have your photographs included in the book, you must have them scanned by Stephanie Hill of PGHS.   Photographs must be originals and can include real photo post cards.   Two dates have been set for scanning at the Clinton Library in Clinton, TN. Please bring your original photographs to the library’s meeting room for scanning on Tuesday, March 8, from 4 to 6 PM or on Saturday, March 26, from 11 AM to 2 PM.   If you cannot attend either of those scanning sessions, but have original photographs you want scanned for the book, please contact Stephanie Hill at 426-8657 before March 30, 2011.   PGHS maintains a library of local history and genealogy books and members are willing to assist anyone working on their family history and genealogy.   The Society meets on the 4 th Thursday of each month and membership is open to the public.   Keep Your Place in History - bring your original photographs to be scanned. You do not have to leave your photographs with anyone or have them sent off to be copied; the scanning will be done while you wait.   If you want to write a history of your photograph(s), please write it before you come to the scanning session.   The Clinch Bend Chapter, NSDAR, did a Bible Project which is similar to the scanning being done by PGHS, and have agreed to take a supporting role in facilitating the scanning sessions. They are not affiliated with the project and will not receive any proceeds from the sale of the book by PGHS. Chapter members are looking forward to the sale of the book because of the genealogical history that the book will contain should the community bring in original family photographs to be included.   ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to TNROANE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
