Children are Lillie L. 4/1880, Thomas J. 3/1886, Andrew J. 5/1888, James M. 8/1890, Frank M. 2/1893, John S. 10/1896. In the 1910 census, I find S.F. (Squire) 60, Thomas 25, Mack 15, (Frank M.) John S. 10 Also note living near by is Andrew J. 22, md for 6 months to a Liza, so he may have been married prior to his marriage to Mary Cadle in 1913. In 1880, Squire is listed as Esquire (and I have added the name Frances in my census book) md to Lucretia (Oaks or McFarland) with children William R. born abt 1874, Martha J. born abt 1875, Lisie A. born abt 1877 and Lillie L. born Apr 1880. I hope this is of help to you. If you need more info, just let me know. My dad had a school teacher that was a Mr. Henegar (don't know what his first name was) but he used to go with Dad out to Sharp's Chapel area to scout for a good place to go deer hunting. Also, there is a Henegar Road, near where I live, that he lived on, probably named for him. Also note in the marriage records there is a S. F. Henegar md to Lucresy Oakes Feb 1872, so that could be the father/mother of A. J. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [TNUNION] Morton Family
    2. The search for David Morton continues and while on Ancestry.com, I noticed where a few people had listed William Morton married to Margaret Farr (Pharr) as the parents. This is totally incorrect and if you read the book, THE LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN MORTON’S, by Donna Morton Morgan, you will see that this is her family and lists the children in great detail. William and Margaret lived in Cabbarus County, NC when they married and then moved to Buncombe County, NC after the death of William’s father, Samuel. After Margaret’s death, they moved to Blount County, TN. They had 15 children, so I don’t think adding David, George, Thomas and Mary Ann Morton to this list works well. They did have a son, David Morton, who married Margaret M. Delzell, so maybe this is where the confusion comes. William’s father, Samuel Morton married Ann Holton Wallace and had five sons: Robert, John, James, Samuel and William. The whereabouts of the first four are unknown and William is the only documented son. It is my opinion that one of these other sons is probably the father of our David and years have been spent trying to prove this. However, I do NOT believe William could be the father of our David. I believe sons John and James owned property in Georgia and I have been trying to locate property deeds in the Columbia area. It may be that both John and James left NC and moved to GA. There was an 1805, 1807 Georgia lottery where people could get 1,000 acres of land but a lot of those records were lost, so I’ve been using reconstructed lists. There is also one other “clue” that has been in the works. Mary Ann Morton married a Norton and one of her children was named “Hiram” Norton. There is a family of Mortons with a son named “Hiram” and they lived in TN for a short time before moving on to Missouri. Also, in Georgia in the 1805 Land Lottery, I found a Hiram Morton and a William T. Morton. In the 1790 GA Census, there is a Jos Morton married to a Mary Ann Morton and this is in the right area - Columbia. The search continues. The hunt continues, but I did want to mention the information about William Morton from Buncombe County. The other error I noticed was that some people are still listing Delila Warwick as the mother of Nancy Catherine James, wife of David Morton. Delila was indeed John James’s wife, but they married long after Nancy Catherine was born, so this would be his second wife. I hope none of the above offends anyone as I surely do not mean to do that. I along with many other Morton relatives would just be the happiest people on earth if we could uncover David’s real parents. Nina Morton T.
