My great great grandfather, Robert Silas White, supposedly died in Tipton, Co, Covington, TN Nov 28, 1867, a victim of the Civil War. He was wounded, probably at Chickamauga. I have been unable to locate his gravesite. Did they have death certificates that far back? Where would a vet have been buried? Would they have moved the body back to Ripley, Tippah Co., MS for burial? His wife is Elizabeth Ann Crowder, daughter of John W. Crowder. We think her mother was named Elizabeth and possibly died at birth. I am having trouble finding records on these folks. She was born near Memphis, TN on August 16, 1837. Thanks Dawn
