Their father was Colonel Robert Paine who emigrated from Giles county, Tenn. to Tipton County, Tenn. in 1831. I am descended from Col. Paine's sister Mary "Polly" who married Edmund Shelton. I grew up in Mason, TN. I think the Paines moved to Desota Co. Miss. before 1860 but I will have to look up my notes. Please email me for more. John Marshall
