Pope was an elementary school until several years ago when it was torn down. The original Pope School was on Chelsea near downtown Memphis. Then in the 1950s Pope and Grant School swapped building and names. In the 1920s Pope was still on Chelsea Ave. I cannot help you with the district, but since it was near the heart of downtown Memphis, this might help you a little bit.
