Diana: I would imagine your "Jack" Wallace (father) was in fact a John also. Sometimes they used Jack for John. I have some Wallaces in my database. The father of John Wallace, Jack as you mention, could be the son of William Wallace, b. abt 10 Jun 1796, Mecklenburg Co., NC, and Sophia Gillespie. They were married 15 Sep 1820, Williamson Co., TN. John Wallace, b. abt 1838, TN was their 9th child. Hope this information helps.
