    1. [Tipt'n] Re: TNTIPTON-D Digest V02 #126
    2. This is from Volume VI, of Hathcock, by Doug Hathcock - Page 47-48 William Hathcock William Hathcock, according to census records, was born in Georgia about 1807. He first appears in the LImestone County census of 1830 at page 29/259 where he and his wife are recorded as between ages 20 and 30 years, with two males under 5 years. The 1820 Limestone County census, one of the few 1820 census records of ALabama to survive, does not record any Hathcock, therefore, it is oresumed that William Hathcock settled in Limestone County after 1820 but before 1830. He is enumerated as William Hancock in 1840. The first census which gives family names and relationships is the 1850 census, which is shown below. 1850 Limestone Co., AL census - No. 629 William Heathcock - m - 43 - Georgia Mary - f- 40 - Tennessee Jane - f - 18 - Alabama James H. - m - 11 - Alabama Elizabeth W. - f - 9 - Alabama Apparently ther was an older daughter, Sarah E., who had married Archer L. Both lived in District 3. They were James Heathcopck, born 1825 in Alabama and his wife, Mildred T. Williams, at house #288, who had married 23 July 1843 and had children William T. by 1848 and Texas A. born une 1850; and Thomas Heathcock born 1828 in ALabama at household #109 and his wife Louisianna M. West who he married 17 July 1848. Theses two families remain unidentified. James H. Hathcock, the son of William and Mary Heathcock, enlisted with the Confederate forces at Gilbertsboro in Limestone Co., 3 September 1861 by Captain THomas H. Gilbert. He was a drummer 5 feet 11 1/2 inches in height, of dark complexion, with dark hair and hazel eyes. He was discharged 4 May 1865 from 50th Regiment, Alabama Infantry. Before the war he had married Martha C. Bullington in Limestone Co., 7 April 1859 and they were living there in 1870. Latyer in 1896 James H. Heathcock married Martha Ann Hamsley , born 24 December 1853, daughter of James Hamsley of Giles Counry, Tennessee. In 1906 they lived in Bethel, Tennessee. However, James died in Limestone County, 19 January 1911. Some of their children were Mary J. born 1861 , John born 1863, Martha born 1865 and Joanna born 1868. .............................................................................. .............................................................................. .........................
