When she wrote about the Island none of the Crook family responded to her inquiries. She is writing from what she remembers.. The Crook family came to the island in the early 1930's. Clarence Crook and his wife Beulah and their children. Beulah had a son and daughter by a previous marriage, Lucile Leslie whoe married Jack Hardin and a daughter, Lorene and Maken (Boots) Leslie Crook who drowned in 1933. Clarence and Buelah had children of their own. Beatrice, Laverne, Oney Jean, Nathan.. so many kids are listed for these . gets confusing sometimes.. let me kn ow if you want more..

Did you know of a young man called Dan Needham.. he ran a store on the island.. he married my aunt.. Mattie Craig. Bernice Needham was her dear friend. I'm not sure why Bernice's name was before marriage. I think it was Godsey. She lived in Blytheville, Ark for many years... She was in her 90's the last time I saw her...in 1997. I do not think she is still alive. but has children that live around that area..

My great-grandfather had a brother named Thomas. I believe that Thomas was older than David Calvin Smith. Not sure if he's the same Thomas as yours but I'd love to compare info. If you'd like, email me directly and let's see if any of my info matches yours. Stephanie

If so Sarah Magnolia (Rogers)Kennedy was my gr-grandmother and Josaphine (did she go by Josie??) was my gr-gr grandmother. They lived in Mississippi Co. Arkansas about 1900. Nolia married Floyd Kennedy sometime before 1910 and her son, my grandfather Hamner Crawford Kennedy was born about 1915. He had several older bros. and sis. Was told Sarah's husband Floyd committed suicide, but don't know when. I cannot find a death record or obit. for him anywhere and I can't find this family or the Rogers either in 1920. If this is your family would love to swap info with you. Sarah Tittsworth P.S. I got my first name from Sarah M. Rogers.

Hi, Cheri - I am afraid I won't be too much help on the Walkers, Cheri. I know little of Nancy Walker except she married James Drummonds 6 January 1842 in Tipton County. She was born ca 1828 in Tennessee as given in the 1850 Census. James Drummonds and wife, Nancy, were also listed in the 1860 Census in District 4 of Tipton County. After that they disappear from the records. They had 7 children, the oldest was Robert M. Drummonds born 15 Dec 1843. I do have some Walker notes from the 1850 census if you do not have that I will be glad to share.
