I would like to welcome those of you new to this site and tell you there are some really great folks who are willing to help just for the asking. I, myself do Volunteer research at Andersonville Civil War Prison in Andersonville Georgia. There are Any research I do is absolutely at NO cost and I am willing to do what I can. There are 1200 prisoners on record from the state of Tennessee and almost 800 who died here, I thought I would send my offer. As Tennessee was one of the states that was torn apart and was truley brother against brother,,I feel the need to say I am not in anyway trying to focus on the horrors of Andersonville compared to any POW camp in the north ..( i.e.Elmira ) or any others and do not wish to stir up arguments on this site. My focus is dedicated to ALL of those held prisoner during this war , on both sides. I just happen to be near Andersonville so this is where I do my work. Here are my sources of research. There are 2 online databases to do lookups.....One by name...one by Company and Regiment. I also have a copy of the Dorence Atwater Death list which has the names and grave numbers of 12960 graves with only 460 marked as " UNKNOWN " This along with a CD I have which contains 34,000 names of the 45,000 who were imprisoned there which helps me find prisoner records because of misspellings of the names or alternate names. I visit the prison site every couple of weeks and have access to the onsite databases as well as the physical files. I would like to let you know of another service I offer which is to take photos of graves for a small fee. Please do not consider this spam as my research offer is FREE for the asking and will be posted on this county site only once. If there is anything I can do in helping your research at Andersonville, please just ask. I know that his son, John L Mills and his wife are buried there, trying to locate where Hugh is at. Thank you. Kelly
Is there any list available of those buried at Munford Cemetery? Or has anyone taken photos of the tombsones and put them on the internet on a virtual cemetery? I am looking for burial place of infant twin sons of Luke and Maggie Steward Linzy from Covington. Or perhaps someone knows of her burial place? Or any other family member? The original spelling of the name was Lindsey, but was changed due to an error in spelling during the war. Any help would be so appreciated. Thanks. Doris Christman Linzy ddreamsofangels@aol.com
I descend from the Tipton County Morrissett's on my paternal grandmother's side. In some of my research years ago, I found the name spelled many different ways--Morrissett, Moriset, Morisset, Morisett, Morissey, Morrissette, etc. Could Marcy be yet another? Never ran across it that I was aware of, but as I was reading your post, the thought just struck me, especially since the pronunciation of Morissey is probably not very far from Marcy. Wayne
Munford Cemetary is also the name of the largest and oldest cemetary in Covington. It is named after a man whose last name is Munford, not the town of Munford. Hope this helps!

I am interested in ANY TALLEY/TALLY that has any ties with Tipton Co. I am certain that ANY Talley in Tipton Co., between 1833 and the later part of the 1800s, was of the line I am researching. Some of them went on to Lauderdale Co., and Haywood Co., but ANY that you can trace to TIPTON Co., in the time period stated above, is related to the line I am interested in. It has taken me many years, but I have a very good line of the decendants of William Talley and Rebecca Briggs, who arrived in Tipton Co., by December 1833. Their descendants have been the only ones I have been able to find so far, in Tipton Co., but I know that there are at least two sons of the above couple that I have not been able to find marriages for. I was in the court house there last fall, and found marriage records for quite a few TALLEY/TALLY that I have not been able to place, so I know that the two sons, had to have had children. The children of William and Rebecca were: Elizabeth who married Manley FORD Martha who married Williamson ROSE John Peter who married Jedidah M. SAUNDERS William H who married in VA, but I have no listed children for him Rebecca G. who married Charles William FALLEN Joseph S. who married Caroline WESSON Sarah Ellington who married the above Charles William FALLEN James George who I have nothing else on Edward Frederick who married Lucy Ann Frances BIBB Arrianna Pernett who married Milton G. BALLARD ANY TID BIT, would be greatly appreciated. ANYTHING!!! ............ While I have you attention, I have the entire U.S. 1880 census on CD ROMs, and am willing to do lookups for you. If you need anyone looked up, that may have been alive in 1880, let me know. I'm trying to help others over their brick walls if I can. If you do request my assistance, please put the request in this format: 1. As much of the name as you know. Even a nick name helps at times. 2. A possible time frame of their birth. 3. A probable place of birth. 4. A parent's name IF known. 5. Place of parent's birth IF known. 6. Race 7. Spouse's name IF known. 8. Sibling's name/s IF known. 9. IF the person had a special occupation, such as doctor, preacher that helps Do not jumble the facts up, it just makes it harder for me to help you. You wouldn't believe how many queries I read a day, and some it takes me at least 10 minutes to pull out facts. THAT IS, IF they have even given any facts other than a name. I do not know now they expect to get help, from just an ordinary name. No possible time frame, no area, nothing but a name.
