Any one have the census index for Tipton Co. in 1840? I need a look up for James or Ellen Owen(s). Thank you Cathy
I found a marriage in Davidson Co. NC for a James Owen of Tipton Co. Tn. who married Ellen Wiseman in 1835. I have failed to recognize this James Owen. Any one have info on him? I searched the 1850 census and there is not any James Owen with wife Ellen in Davidson Co. NC nor Tipton Co. Tn. Thank you Cathy

Cathy, a Kenneth Smith was nice enough to look up a marriage license for me, I had searched every site known for this info, to no avail. I agree it would be great to have someone in Tipton County to post info, I need a death certificate on Callie McKnatt Cooper prior to 1900. Some more elaborate history would be great also, as Callie died in a storm there in Covington. I will keep your names in mind as I travel thru the net with my research...Sharon ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cathy in Oregon" <dennis7@ispwest.com> To: <TNTIPTON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, October 14, 2002 1:24 PM Subject: Re: [Tipt'n] Tipton Co. Sharon, I live near Salem. Yes, I have visited the Tipton site many times. There just is not enough info there. I need a lot more and I am sure most on this list also do, or they would not be on here. I am researching the Wiseman family and their clan there in Tipton Co. Need so much more info. I keep checking back to the web site from time to time to see if there is any more added. Very seldom do I find anything that helps. We all need info in Tipton Co. about our ancestors or else we would not be on this list. Is there any of you that have personal web pages with documents or abstracted info, from documents in Tipton Co. or even Lauderdale Co. So of the people that lived in Tipton either moved over to Lauderdale Co. or went there to do their business. If we could all pool info we personally have in our possesion, together, it might be a great deal of help to us. Then if there was any individual(s) in or near Tipton Co. that could also help us obtain info, from time to time, this would really help also. Any one have any suggestions or input on this? Lets see if we can come up with something. Cathy

I am searching for the daughters of Benjamin and Jane McCulloh Baker Smith. One of their daughters was named Jane. They moved from Maury Co to Tipton Co. after Benjamin's death in the 1820's. Hope you can help me.
