I am a descendant of the Somervill Family and I grew up in Mason, Tennessee between where Northview and Vineland were once located. Unfortunately, they have been long gone, but I know where they were located and I have a great deal of information on this family. Please email me at adag201@aol.com for more information. Are you a descendant as well? Look forward to hearing from you. John Marshall
I would like to contact any members of, or people working on the Yount, Shipp, Baskin, Pinner, Austill, Reynolds and Yarbro Families of Tipton County, Tennessee. I am researching the Yount, Shipp, Baskin (Baskins), Pinner, Austill, Reynolds, Yarbro, Lavelle, Hindman, Caskey (Caskie) and Boswell Families of Tipton County. Thanks
I don't think there are any cemeteries around Rialto. It is just a little place. There are, however large cemeteries in Covington and that is where most of the folks in the county are buried. There are several other church cemeteries scattered around too. Good luck in finding your relatives. kaye
Thank you for your reply. I had an Aunt and Uncle in Covington. Elmus Curtis was a Pharmacist in Covington before WW II. Rialto is a reference in a Civil War Pension Application for my Great Uncle Peter B. Jones. His older brother died at Soldier Home & is buried in Soldiers Cemetery #474 in Nashville. The Cemetery can be reached thru the Donelson Family Cemetery and Churchyard. I had a difficult time finding the site. Do you by any chance know of any Cemeteries in the area of Rialto? And once again, thank you very much for the reply. Marion W. Cole, Jr.
Rialto is right outside Covington off Hwy 51. You take a right on Rialto Road and there is Rialto Baptist Church on the right. There used to be a store before you get to the railroad tracks we always called it Mr Billy's (dont know if that was the actual name of it or not) Mr Billy Farmer owned and operated it. The trains used to stop and get lunch and I can remember that from when I was a little one. My Grandparents lived there.
you are so very welcome!
Thank you greatly. I thought that I was halfway familiar with that area but obviously not. Again, Thank You Marion W. Cole, Jr.
Rialto is still in Tipton County, it really is not a town/city; it is a community and it is near Longtown, TN. See if Longtown is on a map.

Early census data indicates the Timbs name was spelled Tims and Timms before the great migration into Tennessee and westward. From my own research it appears the Timbs spelling is almost unique to Tipton County TN beginning about 1850. I have an 1850 family Bible that has Tims and Timbs as the surname within the same basic family. I also have a Tipton Co. legal document with the name spelled three different ways therein: Tims, Timms, and Times

I'm not finding her, most families had more than 2 children in the earlier days. Also there is a Harvey H. the H could be for Harry and the names switched around. Also on her, Ann could be a middle name. Another thing would be if she was married into the family there wouldn't be anything on her in the book I have after he died. I'm also finding that there are a few names left out of the cross refer in the book. The book I speak of is one that was done by a lady in the family. It has a great deal of info on the Joyner family. I notice your last name being Timms. If it derives from the surname Timbs, there are alot of them in the Joyner family, also.
Joy, Do you have a contact source there. They have never answered my letters and are reluctant to help by phone or FAX. My family records are locked tight with the board of education. I am the only surviving member. Bob

Northview Plantation (owner: Joseph John Somervill) Vineland - may have been a house or a place (owner: George Terry Taylor and wife Mary Goodloe Somervill) Somervill Hall, Somervill Road, Mason, TN (is there still a Somervill Road?) I didn't locate it on a map. Believe that Northview was also located in the Mason area. Also if anyone is a descendant, I have handwritten notes about genealogy a portion of this family.
