Friends, I'm hunting for a "Deed of Gift" associated with my 3g-grandfather William McCall who lived in Sumner County from about 1800 to the mid-1850s. Sometime before he left the County, he presumably gave title to his land holdings in other parts of TN and MO to his grown and married children. He and his 3rd wife then emigrated to Florida where he owned land as reward for his service in the War of 1812 and/or the Seminole Wars. Does any one have a clue as to where I would find this document? A copy of it was filed with an application to the Jamestowne Society (I have an inquiry into them as to access, copies of documents). Is there anyone on this list who would be willing to check the Sumner County Courthouse? The Archives site says they do not have deeds. I will, naturally reimburse all photocopy charges/postage, etc. and a reasonable research fee. I'm in Gainesville FL and very thoroughly employed, so I can't just take off and hunt it down myself.
