I was digging around in my files on the McDonalds/McDaniels of Tennessee and puzzling about the apparent contradictions regarding the land grants awarded to Magness/Magnus. I then remembered that there was a Magness who married his cousin Agnes in North Carolina, etc. and wonder if this means there were two different Magness/Magnus's running around the area about the same time. I am confident that the Magness who married Tabitha Morris and who settled in what became Wilson County is my ancestor but, like you and other dedicated genealogists, I am trying to find a logical explanation for the two land grants in two different areas of Davidson County. Another anomaly is that one Magnus fought in the King's Mountain Militia while the other was a Virginian not likely to have been in that particular Militia. Can you affirm my contention that there were two different Magness/Magnus's or am I just running in circles? Thanks for any input you may have.
