My gg grand father William B. Reeves was living in Sumner Co. at age 10 in 1803 through age 16 in 1809. As far as I can see his parents could not read or write. Yet he and his older brothers did. He later became clerk of the City of Lafayette La. and a judge in Harris County Texas and used the title Esquire taking private law cases. The earliest signature I have for him is signing his provision receipt in the war of 1812. Does anyone know what formal education was available for this time period in and around Gallatin as they were located on Station Creek Camp? Thank you for any Information. Sharon
