    1. [TNSUMNER] Re:Siloam Baptist Church
    2. Siloam Missionary Baptist Church was found in 1841 one year before Macon county was formed (therefore, for a year it sat in Sumner County). Yes, it does sit on the border. I have a wonderful book by Patricia Gilliam Hastings, Into His Marvelous Light; The Minutes of Siloam Missionary Baptist Church 1841-1883 that has been quite useful. I found that my ancestor, William Riley Minick was a clerk of the church during this time period. The book has not only given me insight into his style of writing; but, also I found that the church governed much of the members' daily lives. So, I got a feel for what other events were happening and also where members transfered from. Although I found no Hammonds in the index, I did find Hammack.
