    3. Hello list - Some of you requested that I post the information and directions I'd received about Dry Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church directions. First from Kathleen Hill (McWhirter, Whitson, Eagan researcher) I learned that the Church's national office number in Memphis is (901) 276-8602 - they can give a current local member name of someone who can unlock the gates to the cemetery. The first thing I ALWAYS do when I go to Sumner Co to do research is go to the Archives in Gallatin. They have a current road map with all of the little side roads and even cemeteries are marked. It only costs about $1.50 to get this copied. I will get one of these first and then also use the directions which follow which were so kindly sent to me by other list members: "I am from that area now living out West. I believe you are looking for the Dry Fork church that still exists and is used every Sunday or every other Sunday. The gate is usually locked except when someone is there for church. It is up a little lane about 100 yards I guess. I went there as a boy with my mom a time or two. I called it the Little Church in the Wildwood. There is a cemetery there and has Isaac McWhirter, Emaline Tyree McWhirter, and others as I recall. Possibly you can just cross the fence if you are there on a day other then when they are having worship services and visit it. >From Portland, take Hwy 109 to Gallatin. From Gallatin go north on Hwy 31E toward Scotsville, Ky. About 7-8 miles out of Gallatin (I am guessing, it has been a while), take a road to the left called Rockbridge Road. Just east of that turnoff or in sight about 1/4 mile to the right is the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian church with a little cemetery containing the Barr family members and others. It is quite an old church. The community there is called Sideview. Take the Rockbridge Road (heading west approximately) winding along a creek which we called Dry Fork Creek because it went dry in summer in some years. After maybe 4 miles (guessing) you will come to a concrete bridge where a tributary stream comes in to the larger one. This may be the real Dry Fork Creek but we called all of them by that name. Turn left just past that bridge and go some short distance (I can't recall, but not far, less than a mile). You will see the white church off to the right. The gate to the lane is usually padlocked as I mentioned. I hope this is the place you are looking for as I can't think of any other church there in the Dry Fork creek area. Best to you, Sandy- If I'm not mistaken my husband and I passed the driveway for the church tonight. We had turned off onto Old Dobbins Pike just below the area called Graball and followed Bush Lane so I could show him a cemetary that I ran across a couple of weeks ago, and after twisting and turning I'm pretty sure we passed this church because we were on Dry Fork. I think if I backtracted from where we came out I can get you there. Take Corinth Rd. to Dobbins Pike Take a left onto Womack Rd. off of Dobbins Pike Take a right on Butler Mill Hollow Road (BMH) Take BMH until you have to take a left or right (it's not a real defined corner) Take the left onto Dry Fork Creek Road The entrance to the church is on the left (I don't remember how far) right before a farm that has white stone pillars and fencing around it. (Wayne seemed to think someone at one time was building an estate and never did.) There is a sign and a gate for the church and a long driveway I think. The gate was closed but maybe it's not locked. Good luck! We live in South Tunnel and that was the first time I'd been over through there on Dry Fork Creek Rd. I'd been on Womack Rd. over to Rock Bridge Rd. several times though.
