    1. [TNSUMNER] Fwd: Black/Charlton
    2. Elaine, You have the right bunch. The Blacks, Troutts, Charltons, Rippys, and others went to Marion & Jefferson County in late 1929 & early 1830. As you stated Elizabeth married Isaac Charlton, Samuel Troutt married Nancy Black [23 Oct 1828, Sumner Co.], John Troutt married (2nd) Lucy Black [I believe the widow of Jacob Black] [9 Feb 1840 Jefferson Co], Jacob Reynolds [John Troutt's nephew] married Polly Black [3 Feb 1821 Sumner Co]. I am not a Black or Charlton descendant, but I am a Rippy & Troutt. Most of the Rippys went to Odin, (Marion Co.) Illinois and the Troutts and Blacks went to Woodlawn in Jefferson County. Before John Troutt went to Illinois he sold 26 acres to Abram Charlton on 18 Mar 1829. Michael Black who died about 1826-1830 in Sumner County is the father of the Blacks mentioned above. Not knowing anything about Elizabeth she may be the daughter of John Black, as John had two daughters under 10 years on the 1820 Sumner Co. census. Several have mention the name of John Michael Black, but I believe they are two different people, John & Michael. Eli Wilson Black (1846 - 1929) wrote some of his memoirs with the help of one of his granddaughter in 1928. The first paragraph he states that John Black was his grandfather. George & Eliza (Anderson) Black was E. Ws parents. Anyway you have the right Elizabeth & Isaac Charlton from Sumner County. Feel free to contact me.
