    2. This obituary appeared in the Nashville Tennessean on Monday, 16 May 2005: Jay Alan SLATER Sumner Age 17 May 14, 2005 Age 17, of Gallatin. Saturday, May 14, 2005. He was a Pharmacy Technician at Hendersonville Medical Center Pharmacy. He was involved with the Teen Court of Sumner County; a member of the National Honor Society; was the Valedictorian of his class at Hendersonville Christian Academy; and was awarded a full Air Force ROTC Scholarship. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, William A. Slater; and grandmother, Carol Lou Moody. He is survived by his parents, William and Danielle Slater; sisters, Michelle Slater Watson and Carol Lynn Slater; brother, Daniel Wilson Slater; paternal grandmother, Carolyn Curtis; maternal grandfather, Calvin Wilson Moody. His remains are at Hendersonville Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, May 16. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17 from Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Crockett and Rev. Carl Frensley officiating. Active Pallbearers will be Jonathan Watson, Daniel Slater, Jonathan Davenport, Joel Slater, John Slater, and Ben Deane. Interment will be in Hendersonville Memory Gardens. The family request that memorial donations be made to the Teen Court of Sumner County.
