To Kathleen Hill (jak.ish@verizon.net), Vernon Lacey (envlacey@bscn.com) I sent basically the same message to both Sumner & Jefferson Counties re: King, Owens, Overbay, etc. Below are responses from Jeff. County. I could not find the wagon train information on the Marion County, Ill. Genweb site. Please, Donna Davis, would you give me more specific directions.? Thank you for your information, Kathleen & yes I would appreciate the Sumner County marriage records you refer to. You can see from Peg Spencer's message why some of the names don't show on your 1820 Sumner County census - the wagon train left for Jeff. County in 1818 - something I did not know. I believe the King I am searching for is Daniel, father to Shadrack Thomas King. Daniel married Mary Overbay in Jeff. County in 1837 but I do not know whether this was a first marriage. "Rhody Allen and William Maxey organized a wagon train from Sumner Co., TN in 1818 to Jefferson Co., IL. There were forty-one families. This came from family notes and Jefferson County, IL History Books. Here's who I have so far: 1. Rev. Rhody Allen, Lucinda Overby Allen and their children: Margaret, John Wesley and William S. Allen. 2. William Maxey, Mary Emily Allen Maxey, and their children. With their married children, there may have been 21 families. 3. John Wilkerson, Elizabeth Allen Thomas Wilkerson, her Thomas children, and their Wilkerson children. 4. Rev. John Rhodam Allen, Phoebe Wilkerson Allen, and their children. 5. Edward Fergerson/Ferguson, John Fergerson, James Nelson Fergerson, and families. 6. James Johnson, Clarissa Maxey Johnson, and their children. 7. Nathaniel Parker, Mary Emily Maxey, and their children. 8. Owens family, Sarah Owens. 9. John and Sarah Tyler, and their children. 10. James C. Davis 11. Ransom and Charlotte Moss and children. 12. Zadok Casey and family. 13. Thomas Mackey Casey. Anyone who has more to add, please post. Peg Spencer" (goddesscere@yahoo.com) And from Donna Davis, desk79@cis.net (Donna Davis), I received this---- Information on the Allen Wagon train that I read recently on ILMARION-L seems to fit with what you have said here. You may want to check it out. There were 41 families from Sumner Co., TN involved.
