    1. [TNSUMNER] Browns
    2. Danene and all, Are you familiar with Charles Sidney Brown's book, OUR FAMILY, The Descendants of Leonard Brown, 1984. Charles did a lot of interviews of many of family members from the 1960s when he started his book. Leonard was from Caswell Co., NC. The William Dorris mentioned is his son-in-law who married his oldest child, Eleanor 15 Jan. 1785. According to her widow's pension (#W916) she filed 19 Oct. 1844, Eleanor age 81, received a pension for William's service in the Revolutionary war. Her brother Solomon stated that William & Eleanor came to Tennessee in 1802 and he arrived in 1817. Another thought about the other Browns you have mentioned. Leonard had a son Robert (my 4th great-grandpa). There was also another Robert. He was known as Robert T. Brown (Robert Thompson Brown). This set of Browns came from Albermarle Co., VA. Jacob Brown who married Dovey Foster is the son of Robert & Lydia (Harris) Brown You might want to check Bedford Co., VA on the Fosters. I know William Foster (25 Nov. 1788 - 20 May 1857) from right across the Allen Co., KY line was from there. Hope this helps, Tim Heath

    3. The William Dorris mentioned was a brother of my gggg grandfather Joseph Dorris. They, along with other family members, came to Sumner and Robertson Counties from Orange County, NC. William's father, William Sr., came from Ireland to New Jersey, then to Orange County NC. He died there about 1797.
