Thank you for all the fantastic responses to my John Brown and Sarah Foster question. I have some pretty good updates on the Foster family that I thought I would share with the Sumner group. ---------------------- Here's some info sent by Kathleen Hill (thanks, Kathleen!): 1. There was an Addison Foster who was either a BM, JP or MG to 5 marriages in Sumner Co between 1819 and 1822 including the marriage of Meredith Hodges to Caroline Sarver in 1819. 2. The 1820 Census of Sumner Co lists 2 Fosters: Foster, Addison males 011101 females 42210 slaves 0 Foster, James males 0001 females 001 According to the 1821 Tax List they lived on the South Fork of Drakes Creek ------------------------ I checked my own database and found that Addison Foster was also the father of Catherine Foster b. 27-APR-1807 who married Holly Hodges, the son of Aaron B. Hodges and Elizabeth Markham. Dovey Foster, who married Solomon Brown, was born ca 1798. Could she and Catherine be sisters? I don't know anything about Sara Foster yet, except that she married a John Brown on 04-DEC-1826, and was married by Meredith Hodges, J. P., bondsman was William Dorris. Could she be another sister to Catherine or sister of Dovey? The James Foster shown above would be 16-26 years old or born 1794-1804. Another child of Addison Foster? I just checked my copy of the 1820 Sumner County TN Tax List. Addison Foster is listed with 117 acres on the Sulpher Fork of Drakes Creek. He is listed three people above Solomon Brown. Jacob Brown, who married Dovey Foster, is listed right after Solomon. Anyone know any more about this family? Danene
