Bob, There is an area between on the ridge between Westmoreland and Portland just one mile north off highway 52 in the Oak Grove community called Brackintown, called Brackins in the early 1800's. The old Cairo Road [which is now part of the Minor & Harve Brown Road] also ran through Brackintown. You are in the right area but I am not aware of a Johnson's Gap. I did find one deed that maybe of interest to you. Sumner County - Deed Book 7 - Page 209 - 6 Sept. 1814: William Gwin, Sr., to William Gwin, Jr., for $300, 53 acres part of a tract conveyed to William Gwin, Sr., by John Morgan on dry fork of Bledsoe's Creek. Wit: Ezekiel Gwin, John Gwin, & James Gwin. Hope this helps.
