Dear Sumner County Listers, This is my first posting. My GGGGrandmother was Caroline Engle/Angle/Angela, spelled variously. It is said that she probably came from Sumner County TN, b. abt. 1822. It is also said that she was born on Pine Mountain in TN. Noone knows where this is. She was married to my GGGGrandfather, Ivy Reynolds in Johnson County, Illinois in 1839. There do not seem to be any families in the area that might be related to her. Since the "Trail of Tears" went directly through Johnson County in 1838-1839, I have often wondered whether she might have been traveling with this group. She may or may not have had Indian blood, but there is a rumor in my family that one of my great grandmothers was a one-quarter Cherokee. Obviously, there is a lot of mystery about Caroline.
