I thought someone out there would know the basis behind the following: The wills of my ancestors frequently leave a "dollar" to various relatives or friends. While I understand the value of a dollar was a lot more back then, if I were a child and my father left me a dollar and left my sibling a horse, I would feel a little unloved. So if someone could tell me the reasoning behind the "dollar"...was it a token of love or an insult or was that determined by the receiver? Thanks, Sandra
