Ben H ROBERTS and Sallie Lerzine Matilda GRIFFIN were married in Sumner 25 Jul 1864. Ben H (Henry) Russell born 16 Apr 1842 in Vrginia was son or grandson of Ben Roberts Jr. and Mary Hill. There were four generations of Roberts listed in one Sumner County Census. Sallie Griffin born 24 Nov 1848 in TN. She was daughter of James and Delphia (Warnell) Griffin. One Sumner County online publication indicates James GRIFFIN (Feb 1811 -19 Jun 1894), Delphia Griffin (1809 -19 Jun 1897) are buried in Griffin Cemetery West of Pleasant Valley church and 8/10 mi on Martin Lane. Another publication identified the cememtery as the Martin Cememetary. Since James & Delphia's daughter Elvira married George W. MARTIN, it is possible more members of the Martin family may have been buried in the cemetery. However I have made to trips to Sumner County and searched for the cemetery and could not locate it. On resident in the area told me it could be located in an area between the property line and the road. There are trees and when I visited the area the grass and weeds were tall enough to obscure gravestones. The senior Ben Roberts wrote in the Family Bible "when I'm dead & gone don't let me be forgotten". I frequently say to his spirit, "if you want to be remembered, I need help locating things to remember." I hope someone can provide me with additional information about the cemetery, and I would be delighted to hear from relatives and share information.
