I have no way of knowing if my Colonial New York Beasleys ended up in SC, TN or MO, but here they are: John Beasley d. abt. 1768. He m. Lydia Daily 01 Nov 1723 New Holland (now NY). Lydia was b. abt. 1683 in Albany, New Holland. She died after 1749 in Albany. Lydia was the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Obee) Daily. Lydia and John Beasley had at least two children: Henry Beasley and Johanna Beasley. The Gillespies were very prominent in Sumner Co. TN, but no more so than the Cantrells, Blakemores, Douglass', Allens, Saunders all allied families. Sarah Gillespie married William Cantrell abt. 1825 Sumner Co. TN. William Cantrell was b. 22 Jan 1792 Sumner Co. TN, the son of Stephen and Mary (Blakemore) Cantrell. Mary Blakemore, sometimes found as Blackamore, was b. 08 Mar 1765 and d. 02 Aug 1849 Sumner Co. TN. As for Stevens in Sumner Co., I have J. Boly Stevens who m. Susan Rebecca Kepley b. 20 Jan 1828 Sumner Co. TN and d. 01 May 1914 Sumner Co. TN. They had at least one son named John A. Stevens b. abt. 1857. Susan Rebecca Kepley was a daughter of William C. Kepley b. 20 Jan 1796 Rowan Co. NC and Nancy Freedle b. 15 Oct 1801 South Carolina d. bef. 1842 Sumner Co. TN. W.C and Nancy (Freedle) Kepley married 16 Mar 1821 Rowan Co. NC. Their first child Robert was b. 22 Dec 1821 Rowan Co. NC and he d. 22 May 1886 in Robertson Co. TN. The second child Elizabeth was b. 06 Nov 1823 Davidson Co. TN. The third child was b. 07 May 1825 Davidson Co. TN. Susan Rebecca (Kepley) Stevens was the fourth born child. Fifth was James Henry Kepley b. 12 Apr 1830 Sumner and d. 05 Jan 1891 Rondo, Polk Co. MO. Finally came Eliza Jane Kepley b. 04 Mar 1833 and d. 1912 Sumner Co. TN. William C. Kepley m2 Elizabeth F. Perdue 12 Jan 1842 Sumner Co. TN and had 7 children by her. I have no Burtons in my data base. Maybe these are connections you can use or maybe just file away. If anything looks familiar, let me know and I will try to help you find your family members. ----- Original Message ----- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: <TNSUMNER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, October 22, 2007 5:55 AM Subject: [TNSUMNER] Seeking connections to Ann Beasley, born ~1780 SC,migrated to Madison Co, MO > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: 4michildren > Surnames: Beasley, Stevens, Burton, Gillespie > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.tennessee.counties.sumner/4638/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > I am seeking help with the Beasley family that may have lived in the > Sumner and Smith county area of TN in the early to mid 1800's. She married William G Stevens and the family migrated from TN to Madison Co, MO is southeastern Missouri probably in the 1830's. The family remained there, and raised sons: William B, John C, David D, Wallace, Henry M C, unknown, James Burton, and Hosea Gillespie. I would like to hear the information you have on your Beasley ancestors who migrated from South Carolina. I have heard she was Indian, do you know of any Indian heritage? Arbie Augusta Lane married Richard D. Hobdy (Nashville marriage bond) 9 Sep 1888. Boy birth record Nashville 29 Nov 1889. Girl, Beuna Myrtle, born 1892, but don't know where. Girl, Dohna, born 1893. Death notice says girls were 3 and 1 1/2, no boy child (and they never knew), and though faded, believe she was buried in Parham Cemetery. Several indications she was Catholic. We have always been told that Arbie's parents went to Texas just before the big 1900 storm and were never heard from again, but we don't know their names. We heard from one relative that she had a brother name William and sister named Bessie. This equates to all we know. If anyone in the Lane line had someone to disappear in the Texas 1900 storm, please reply! Can not find her in the 1880 census ANYWHERE! I am a descended from Major James Frazor. His son, James Jr., married Elizabeth Shaw's daughter, Anna. Major James Frazor is also buried at Clendenning/Frazor Cemetery. It seems that he was William Frazor's brother. Does anybody have any proof of this and who their parents were? Ronnie Frazor

There is a book on Sumner County Cemeteries, and the following information is there: "1 mi. east of White House on Palmer Chapel Road; then 5/10 mi. east on Valley Road. Cemetery is a few yards south of the road with no markers." It's a complete dead end. My only hope is to find somebody that has a diary, or has run across a newspaper article in archives somewhere, or is descended from the line and remembers a story. We learned they lost a baby boy in 1889. Really, can't find anything on him until 1900 in Christian County, KY, after he is re-married. He was Richard D. Hobdy, son of Alexander Rush Hobdy. We are assuming they came to Sumner County (possibly to be near her parents?) after the baby died, because her death notice says she was buried in Parham Cemetery, and we can pinpoint one in Sumner County. In that 1900 KY census, it lists her 2 little girls as being born in TN, 1892 and 1893. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. According to a lawsuit deposition that I found she is a sister to Elizabeth Shaw the wife of Robert Shaw. This is a matter of court record. Elizabeth Shaw lived to be 101 years of age, died in Sumner County. She is buried in the Clendening Cemetery as is all of William Frazor's children plus spouses. I do not find William Frazor's grave there but I suppose that he may not have had a stone. They are listed in the book available from the Sumner County Archives. If you cannot invest in the Cemetery Book of Sumner County- they will copy pages of the Index and then you may request the pages they are listed on. Most of William and Jennie's chilren are listed in the Sumner Co. Marriages. The Archives address is: Sumner County Archives, 155 E. Main St., Gallatin, TN 37066. I have applied to the NSDAR for a supplemental of William for service in the Revolutionary War. I found record of his service in a Rev. War Record Book but I do not know if they will accept his service. I am descended from his son, Thomas Frazor and Isabella Kirkpatrick Frazor. If you should wish to email me my address is therma@semo.net. This information I am giving you is proven except for the Rev. War part and if the NSDAR approves these records then that will stand up too. Now it is pointing to Jennie's father being Thomas Hambleton, Sr. and her mother being Jane McCracken. Thomas is a proven patriot. I have been researching this family since 1972. I'm glad you are working in this area. Sincerely, Therma Glass. Zuritha was the 1st wife of Lewis Hill, and Amanda married Abner P. Hill. Henry Rieff's parents were Christopher Rieff and Mary Wilschannah. Henry and his brothers John and Joseph came to TN from VA. I am pretty sure that I have the children of Henry's brothers and there were no Sarahs or Sallys. Also I find no record that they had a sister named Sarah/Sally.
