It was Washington County, N.C.
I know Sumner County was formed in 1786 from Davidson County, and that Tennessee was a part of North Carolina, so what county was Sumner in in 1775, if it was part of North Carolina? It wasn`t called Sumner then
For a long time now, I have searched for information on Reuben Marlin GOOSTREE. The last find I have of Marley (nickname) was in the 1900 records. *Reuben Marlin GOOSTREE married Charlotte Belle (Lottie) McQuiston in Jan.1890. This couple had four (4) children. *Charlotte Belle Lottie (nickname) McQuiston Goostree married a 2nd. time to a William HOBDY and to that union was born three (3) children. I need to know: when he died; where he died; how he died; where is he buried; his family were left with mixed stories of what happen to him, his oldest child was only about nine years old in 1900. In my long search I found and have copies of a Marley Goostree in about 1917 and1920. Please think about this message, because you may have heard something that will help solve this for not only me, but a lot of family members. Reuben Marlin (Marley or maybe spelled Merlie) GOOSTREE was, and always will be apart of Watson Goostree and Elizabeth McGlothin his grandparents, Thomas J.Goostree and Charity Moore his parents, Riley B. Goostree his first born and oldest son, Delmore Goostree his grandson and I his g-granddaughter and all the others. If you wish, you may email me personally, what ever is easy for you. magoose@bellsouth.net Thank each of you and bless all of you, for your time, Joyce Goostree Jernigan

Posted on: Sumner Co. Tn Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tn/Sumner/11852 Surname: TROUTT, SLAYTON ------------------------- Roger, Bird Troutt was my ggrandmother's father. Her name was Ella - she married Charlie Slayton. According to a law suit Ella and Amanda were two of his children. He was married more than once and after he died there were several law suits over his property between the children and one of the wives. I am not sure who Ella's mother is. One of the wives is named Rhoda. If you could shed any light on the wives and children I would certainly appreciate it. This took place in SUMNER County, Tennessee

Troutt had a brother William who was my GGGrandfather and was married to Louisa J. According to the census records in Sumner Co. it shows their mother being Milly Troutt and their father being Bird. Hi, I am looking for any info on Border's families in Sumner Co. My G. G. Grandfather William H. Borders was born in this county around 1858 per Marriage license in Simpson County, KY. When he applied he said that he was born in Sumner County. The only other thing I know according to this record is his father was born in North Carolina and his mother was born in Tennessee. I did notice that two families of Border's were in this county too on the 1850 census. Plus I did find where a Jese Borders married in this County around 1851. So far this is all I find on Borders in this area. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Best Wishes, Charlotte
Brenda, Do you have a first name to go with the george , You might use lower case letters for george I find that sometimes that works best for me,I beleive that Dorothy Gray sent this site and when it opens up there is an ad and 7 questions to answer but he points out about using lower case letters too. True he is trying to sell his book but he makes good sense too. <http://www.amberskyline.com/treasuremaps/oldhand.html> the site is old handwriting .Good luck Frances --- brenda parker <halltown_tn@yahoo.com> wrote: > Posted on: Sumner Co. List members, I recall that there has recently been some discussion of the TROUTT lines in Sumner Co., TN on this list. I have recently transcribed the estate records of James FLEMING, and Diane has posted them to the Sumner TNGenWeb page under "Court Record Transcriptions". I mention this because there are several TROUTT men named in the estate record, and I thought this might be of some interest to researchers of that line. I am also hoping for some help with the following: In the 1850 Sumner Co., TN census living in the household of James FLEMING are James FLEMING b. abt. 1791 in VA Elizabeth FLEMING b. abt. 1798 in NC Robert FLEMING b. abt. 1835 in TN Mary TROUT b. abt. 1828 in TN Manerva TROUT b. abt. 1843 in TN In the 1860 Sumner Co., TN census living in the household of Elizabeth FLEMING: Elizabeth FLEMING b. abt. 1804 in NC Jane FLEMING b. abt. 1843 in TN John BRACKING/BRACKIN b. abt. 1824 in TN Loucretia BRACKING (FLEMING) b. abt. 1825 in TN Aaron BRACKING b. abt. 1848 in TN Elizabeth BRACKING b. abt. 1852 in TN Sumner Co., TN marriage record: Thornton SHERRON m.
