Correction. John C Morris would be the g.g.grandfather, Samuel Morris would be the g.grandfather. Thanks. Rob Morris
To all the very nice people that helped me with the Samuel P Morris/Elizabeth Caldwell Morris information. I can't thank you enough. But unless I can find out what happened to one of their grand sons Samuel, I must go back to square one. John C Morris married Mary Jane Bennett and they had two children, Samuel and William. According to the Philemon Morris Register, John C. died in 1858, still in his late teens leaving a wife and two children. I have a hunch that his son Samuel is my great great granddaddy, and maybe someone reading this might have more news about Sam and his brother William that will either deny this or help confirm it. Either way, I need to know. Thanks. Rob Morris

Hello List! I am a descendant of the DINNING and DENNING families of Sumner County. The earliest ancestors I have found is David DINNING, Sr. and his son David DINNING, Jr. They came to America in 1762 and settled in Orange Co., NC. David Jr. came to Sumner Co., Tennessee, in the fall of 1799. I have obtained a great amount of information on my early line from my cousin, Mike Denning of Gallatin. Always looking for more history and information and will share whatever I have gathered. John Denning Covington, Washington

Looking for information on the parnets of Margaret Briley married Henry Biggs, She was born abt 1820 in Sumner Conty. There was a James Briley and a William Briley listed in the 1830 Census of Sumner County. One of these was probably her father, which one? Also loking for information on Martha Pasty Kelly. Does anyone know how any of the Kelly`s in the census were kin to her? Would love th hear from all BIGGS-BRILEY-ARMSTRONG-KELLY-BALDRIDGE researchers out there. Thanks
Thank you for your kind effort in helping me. Bear with me for a moment and help me find out if I am indeed related to Samuel P Morris. A 1900 Arkansas census tells me that my grandfather, Gaston Morris is the son of Samuel Edward Morris age 41. He is listed as being from Sumner County Tennessee. I brought up the 1860 Sumner County census and saw on line 871, ( which may be important later), an Elizabeth Morris as head of the house. Next door, line 872, resided Janie Morris age 20, mother of Samuel, age two, and William who is one year old. No grown men in either household. The math and names seem perfect for two year old Samuel to be my great grandfather, and no other Morris's on the census came close. I have a marriage date that shows that William Morris married Jane P williams on 11-06-1858, which allows for baby Samuel to be two years old in 1860. What do you think so far? I looked at the 1850 census and found a 40 year old Samuel Morris, his 45 year old wife, Elizabeth,! and 7 children whose ages run from 19 downward to 4 and one half. The most important child to me, being 14 year old Samuel W, which must stand for William. Eight years later, Samuel William, now 22, most likely marries Jane Williams 18. If this is true, then is Samuel P Morris, the man who first marries Betsey Harrison, then marries for a second time, to Elizabeth(Caldwell?) the very same Samuel listed as head of the house on the 1850 census? As for the line numbers, the 1830 census shows a Samuel Morris on line # 890. Which is very close to # 871 and 872. I haven't figured out the code yet. Can you make sense of this? What else do you have that may shed light? Thank you so much for offering up this new information. I will await your input. Rob Morris
