    1. [TNSUMNER] BRACKIN/RAMSEY family
    2. Danny M. Hooge
    3. Surnames: BRACKIN, RAMSEY (also TYREE; WILSON -- from Allen Co., KY) ---------------------------------------------- Seeking information on S. (Seaburg?) Lubridge Ramsey and Margery Brackin, md. 5 Feb 1817 in Sumner Co., TN. He was from Logan Co., KY, part which became Simpson Co., KY in 1819. Mistakenly listed as "Throbridge" Ramsey (because of handwriting) on Sumner Co. marriage record. I have names of other Ramseys present in old Logan and Simpson Co.'s, KY when he lived there. She was from Sumner Co., TN. Henry B. Brackin, Jr. MD states in his book, The Brackin Family in the Southeastern United States (p. 159), that all the following people were their children (probably based on a census household listing), but I have noted corrections below: James Ramsey (he was James Simpson Ramsey, b. 1828) Sally Ann Ramsey (she was Sarah Ann Taylor, wife of James) William Ramsey (he was James William Drane Ramsey, son of J&S) Green Ramsey (he was David Greer Ramsey, sone of J&S) Isaac W. Ramsey Calvin Ramsey (he was Curran Ramsey) Also note: James and Sally Ramsey had a girl named Isabell (Essie) Ramsey born abt 1850. The author gives Margery Brackin (called Margaret Brackin in the book) as daughter of Henry Brackin and Polly (Gilliam) Brackin, and her birth as about 1801. This may be so, but I believe that Margery was more likely the daughter of Isaac Brackin and Marjarie Boyle, who moved to Sumner Co., TN from Orange Co., NC. Margery is listed as head of household on 1840 census of Sumner Co., TN, with 40-50 year old male (maybe S. Lubridge Ramsey away but alive, or there but very ill or incapacitated?). In the house next door, was Isaac Brackin and family. Margery Brackin Ramsey married Preston Graves in Sumner Co., TN on 8 Jan 1842. She (age 59, widow and boarder) was living in Ohio Co., KY in 1860 (census, #704, p. 102) with Isaac W. Ramsey, age 25, and apparently his son, William J. Ramsey, age 3. Curran Ramsey moved to KY and married Lydia Conners (I think, don't have notes handy). James William Drane Ramsey stayed in Sumner Co., TN and married Mary Ann Benthel. Any information pertaining to these BRACKIN or RAMSEY individuals will be helpful. My direct e-mail address is <danhooge@fiber.net>. Thank you. Danny

Tn Queries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tn/Sumner/11926 Surname: Brackin ------------------------- Dr. Henry Brackin has written a book,"The Brackin Family in the Southeastern United States". He has Alfred E. Brackin but not his descendents. He would be interested in the information that you have on Alfred Brackin's descendents, as he will be doing an update. Also, if you don't have the ancestors of Alfred, he has them back several generations. His e-mail address is on the Sumner County site of usgenweb; it is on the article about the Brackin House.
