    1. [TNSUMNER] The Story Tellers
    2. I received this from another list and thought I'd pass it along............ The Story Tellers..... We are the chosen. My feelings are in each family there is one who seems called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again, to tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve. To me, doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead, breathing life into all who have gone before. We are the story tellers of the tribe. All tribes have one. We have been called as it were by our genes. Those who have gone before cry out to us: Tell our story. So, we do. In finding them, we somehow find ourselves. How many graves have I stood before now and cried? I have lost count. How many times have I told the ancestors you have a wonderful family you would be proud of us? How many times have I walked up to a grave and felt somehow there was love there for me? I cannot say. It goes beyond just documenting facts. It goes to who am I and why do I do the things I do? It goes to seeing a cemetery about to be lost forever to weeds and indifference and saying I can't let this happen. The bones here are bones of my bone and flesh of my flesh. It goes to doing something about it. It goes to pride in what our ancestors were able to accomplish. How they contributed to what we are today. It goes to respecting their hardships and losses, their never giving in or giving up, their resoluteness to go on and build a life for their family. It goes to deep pride that they fought to make and keep us a Nation. It goes to a deep and immense understanding that they were doing it for us. That we might be born who we are. That we might remember them. So we do. With love and caring and scribing each fact of their existence, because we are them and they are us. So, as a scribe called, I tell the story of my family. It is up to that one called in the next generation to answer the call and take their place in the long line of family storytellers. That, is why I do my family genealogy, and that is what calls those young and old to step up and put flesh on the bones. ( Unknown Author )

    1. [TNSUMNER] James Bennett Buntin
    2. Mark Buntin
    3. I'm searching for information regarding the Buntin family. Family information has by great-grandfather, James Bennett Buntin birthplace as Sumner County, TN (b. Oct 1876). My Great-great-grandmother's maiden name was Lucy Groves and my Great-great-grandfather's name (by family bible) as John Buntin. The 1880 census has a Lucy J. Buntin WF age 21 living in the Grove residence (House/Page: 216-258) along with one year old James Buntin (the age doesn't correspond with the census vs. family information to the birth date by only 3 years). S.P. Groves is the eldest WF age 46 (216-258)of this household. This appears to be a close match... can anybody help me with information regarding Lucy J. (Grove) Buntin and family? There is a listing in the 1880 census of a residence of J.C. Buntin WM age 52 & Margaret Buntin WF age 52(House/Page: 29-249). They have a son, James Buntin age 21. Can anyone help me with J.C. & Margaret Buntin and family? I had no luck finding a "John Buntin" within the age group with Lucy Buntin. Thanks in advance. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

    1. [TNSUMNER] 1810 Census
    2. Edna King-Miller
    3. Does anyone have access to the 1810 census for Sumner Co.? I would like to see the listing for Richard King, age about 42, wife Rachel, age 36. I want to confirm that they had a son, Richard, who would have been between 4 and 10 years old. Other children listed should include: James, between 10 and 15, Robert, about 15, Martha, about 12, and another daughter, age about 13. I have been trying to confirm that Richard and Rachel are the parents of Richard (son), but have not been able to make the link. Richard the younger married Nancy Daley in Williamson County in 1827, before moving to Texas in 1833. This has been a CONCRETE wall for my brother and me. Hope someone will be able to help us. Thanks. Edna King-Miller, Atascadero, CA pikake@tcsn.net

Her brothers and sisters were: Leo, Vernon, J.D., "Shorty", "Sleepy", Alma, Claire Ruth, Nadine, Annie and Jack. I am not real sure of Shorty and Sleepy's real names.
