Does anyone know where I may find divorce records for Sumner Co. in the 1880's? Larry Hallstrom
Hi Joyce, I've been in Sumner County so I missed most of the original discussion. But, I saw your last message. Thought I'd just throw in that my grandpa Jesse Brown was a Jewel Tea salesman for the first couple of years after he married (1930). Actually, I think they moved to Springfield, TN for that period of time. But, I've heard my dad tell stories of Jewel Tea. Do you know more? Danene
Thank you anyhow Pat. Yes, you are right about the Franklin County families. I am part of them. I was born and raised there and most of my relatives came from there. It was good of you to answer. Suella
Suella. Sorry I don't have any more info on the Collins family. You might try searching for the family in Wilson Co., TN and Sumner Co., TN. Most of Franklin Co., Il was settled by people from those two counties. Pat
If anyone researching the Morgan line runs across Hiram Morgan who married Rebecca Gillespie circa 1820 I'd appreciate a reply. One of my direct lines, George Gillespie married Patsy Morgan in Sumner Co. As a side note, some of my line, Nancy Gillespie, married Henry Ramsey Bledsoe in 1805 at Sumner Co., TN. My records show that he died of yellow fever while on a trading expediation in Mississippi. Later, one of Nancy and Henry's children, Ophelia, married another of my line, Rev. George Gillespie, apparently in Missourri. As you can see, there was a considerable mixing of names and families throughout that time and place. Richard Gillespie, DC mailto:DrRickTx@rattlers.net >>>>>>>> Does anyone have any pictures of the Morgan family. I'm looking for Daniel P. Morgan b 1849, and/or his wife, Charles or John Morgan, Daniel's brothers. Also any pictures of the Morgan's such as Capt. John Morgan b 1753 (Rev War) or Charles Morgan b 1788. Any pictures of the Morgan family is appreciated. Also are any pictures available of Nathaniel Parker b 1730 and/or his family. He married Mary Bledsoe after Anthony Bledsoe was killed by Indians. Thank you for the help. Mary Ann<<<<<<<<

I really doubt if Isaac Bledsoe Taylor was related to Isaac Bledsoe. I just think perhaps John M. Taylor was friends with one of the Isaac Bledsoes, and named his son for him. I have never seen any suggestion that the Taylors or Wests were related to the Bledsoes, and even in my lifetime, had there been a relationship, I feel sure my family would have known it and told me. The Bledsoes were prominent in Sumner County, with a creek named for them, as well as a town (Bledsoe's Lick, which later came to be known as Castalian Springs). I find it hard to believe my Taylor family wouldn't have claimed a connection had there been one.
I too have a JACKSONstone-wall; mine is Martha Jane JACKSON b. 20 Jan 1803 d. 30 July 1884 married Robert STUBBLEFIELD 31 Jan 1825 Sumner County. I have no clue to her parents; although they used the middle name of MOSS alot for their children and wonder if this was a mother's maiden name. THANKS I WILL TRY AGAIN LEE, The peddler I remember up in Sumner county in the 30's rode in the back of the truck with a driver up front. They would stop at every house, There was always a chicken coop or two fastened to the back of the truck as well as a kerosene tank. You could sell him an old hen or rooster and he would weigh it on the swinging scales the he would sell you a dimes worth of sugar weighing it on the same scales pump you a gallon of coal oil for your lamps or anything else he carried. Probly visit the woods on the side of the road several times a day and never wash his hands. DON'T THAT MAKE YOU LONG FOR THE GOOD OLD DAYS. LEE.
Pat, I just finished reading your posting about the Collins. This is my line and a difficult one to trace. I have most of the information you posted, but was just wondering if you may know the father of James Collins. He is one of my "brick walls". Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for sharing. James was my Great Grandfather.
Hello Cousin, I have thought about you so much and tried to contact you, but had the wrong address. I'm thrilled right now, to say the least. I met you at the Collins reunion in Benton. I was just getting started in genealogy at that time and have since collected a bit more. I would love to hear from you and exchange information. Let me know if you are interested. My Mother was Uncle Jesse's sister. Suella
