There are three different Cotton Cemeteries. 1st Parham, Hobday, Cotton, Payne, and Sutton 13 plots 2nd Cotton 2 plots 3rd Cotton 2 plots Hassell Cemetery is located on same road as 2nd Cotten Cemetery. Names here are Morris, Hassell, Collins, Kittrell, Kirk, Garrett. Sorry I didn't see all of this before. Feel free to ask questions. C. Marlin

A lady by the name of Stella sent me a private query asking if the King family was buried in the Strother/Mitchell cemetery. I lost her email addy and replied on the list that *no* Kings are buried in the Strother/Mitchell cemetery I hope Stella sees this data. I am researching the following familes from Cottontown and Gallatin. Busby, Cartwright, Jackson, McCormack/mick, Mitchell, Sadler, and allied families. King King Cemetery five-tenths mile E. of Gallatin d. Feb. 1814 This cemetery seems to have the oldest dates. Wm. King Old Beech Cemetery Jan. 17 1777, - Sept. 9, 1847 Wm. King Senter's Chapel (Black section) b. May 15, 1862 d. June 4, 1923 All cemeteries I listed except for Senter's Chapel are in or around Cottontown. Cottontown is a large unincorporated area between Gallatin, White House, Portland, and Hendersonville, TN. We have a post office and a volunteer fire department and lots of history.     2. I am looking for any information on Marshall Dempsey b. Aug. 1883 in TN, possibly Nashville. His parents were George Larkin Dempsey b. March 1837, TN and Cornelia E. Jones b. May 1861 GA. Marshall had at least one sibling, Henry Eugene Dempsey b. Nov 1881, TN. At the time of the 1900 census, Marshall was a pattern maker in TN. After that I can find no trace of him.     2. Hello Friends and Cousins, What is going on out at the Strother/Mitchell cemetery in Cottontown? One of my cousins went out there and found a fence across the lane leading to the cemetery. He also says that a lawsuit had been filed regarding the property. Can anyone fill me in on the details about this? Thanks much, Ann

According to the family oral legend, he died in Carroll County and was buried in Sumner County. I don't know if he was buried with his first wife Louisa Cardwell or second Laura Summers. I've also heard that he was buried in Simpson County. He is not listed in the Cementary Index of either County. Yes, Robert, his son, is buried in Carroll County. Steve
