I have a Myrtle Mai Shaw Brown in my records but don't know which Brown she married. Her parents were married in 1902, she being the second of two children. I have a Steve Johnson marrying Sarah (Sally) Malinda Shaw. She was born Dec. 22, 1841. They were said to have moved to Western Tennessee then on to Missouri. I have an Anna Lou Johnson marrying Luvelon Monroe Shaw on Oct. 23, 1898. I have a Lucie Dorris marrying John Wesley Marlin. I don't have dates for them at the moment. They are buried in the Dorris Cemetery on Marlin Rd. just off of Tyree Springs Rd. in Sumner Co. I'm not sure if they are in the White House, TN limits but it would be very close. They are my husband's great-grandparent's. Does this click with anyone? Carla Marlin Surnames: Marlin, Shaw, Dorris, Griffin, Hamilton, Harder, Hollis, Kelly, Link
Joyce -- I think it is more than coincidental that the McMurtry's and the Dorrises both came from Northern Ireland, that both settled in Somerset County, New Jersey, that both fought in the Revolutionary War, that the families intermarried, that both moved to Orange County, North Carolina, and both families moved to Sumner County. Throw in a couple of more families like the Gomers, and it's almost like a clan that lived and stayed together through everything. By the way, I have a Pauline Stark who married Daniel Calvin McMurtry in 1941. Is that part of your line? -- Charlie Payne Clan Stuart. Daniel Webster CUFFMAN would then be my Great Grandmother's (Elizabeth Ann "Lizzie" BLACKARD) 2nd Cousin and my 2nd Cousin 3X removed. I would like to learn more about the descendents of Pravatt and Jane, and to contact Carl CUFFMAN. I would share all the information I have about the KINSALL and CUFFMAN families with any interested family members. Kes Truelove ketruelove@home.com
