    1. [TNSUMNER] RE: Viruses

    3. Hello List Members, I thought you might like to know that the virus mentioned in your note - "A VIRTUAL CARD FOR YOU" is a hoax. I work for Intel and we work closely with Microsoft.... and neither company has issued warnings about these two viruses. There are other common hoaxes, such as - "A Virtual "An Internet Flower For You." They usually say the virus is suppose to destroy your hard drive also. I've seen these same words used on several other false virus warnings. You would be surprise at the number of notices that you receive about viruses are really "Hoaxes." There are several good web sites (see below) that will keep you posted as to which are the truth and the ones that are hoaxes. Although there are thousands of viruses discovered each year, there are still some that only exist in the imaginations of the public and the press. Once you have identified a message as being a hoax, please ignore it. Also do not pass on any messages regarding these supposed "viruses". Passing on messages about these hoaxes only serves to further propagate them. Below is an excellent web site recommended by Intel and Microsoft to track hoax virus reports. This site gives the latest information on virus and rumor hoaxes: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/hoax.html You should always check a virus warning out before you pass it on. Several of the viruses listed below was just recently sent out to several large lists and they are both hoaxes. All viruses mentioned below are fiction. But if you have any doubts - "Delete it".
